NIGHT RANGER – Feeding Off The Mojo [Japanese Edition] HQ

After NIGHT RANGER broke-up 1988-89, Jack Blades quickly moved on to co-found Damn Yankees with Ted Nugent and Styx veteran Tommy Shaw, but not all of Blades’ former bandmates were ready to start over. After taking some time away, drummer/vocalist Kelly Keagy and guitarist Brad Gillis decided to reunite Night Ranger — to a point.
Opting to forge ahead as a trio, Keagy and Gillis enlisted Gary Moon, a former member of Three Dog Night whose band the Pack had seen a number of potential record deals go belly-up in the late ’80s. By the time Moon met up with the reanimated Night Ranger, he was ready to make a change.
The result is one of the greatest US Melodic Hard Rock album from the Nineties: “Feeding Off The Mojo“. While perhaps this line-up should have gone under a different moniker, what matters is the awesome tunes packed on it.
I don’t care if this is Night Ranger or not, this is fabulous…
This Japanese CD press of “Feeding Off The Mojo” sounds a million bucks.

NIGHT RANGER – ATBPO (2021)

Melodic Rock legends NIGHT RANGER are set to release their 12th studio album, “ATBPO” (which stands for And The Band Played On), an ode to making music during the covid era. The album will be released on August 6, 2021 via Frontiers Music on CD and Color Vinyl (a variety of limited edition versions).
The band began writing the album in early 2020, amid the rise of the global pandemic. After narrowing down the song selection and tightening them up to their well-known rock ‘n roll sound, the band hit the studio, although separately, due to the times we are in.
Throughout ATBPO we hear Night Ranger continuing their hot streak that kicked off with 2011’s “Somewhere In California”. Ten years on, and two highly acclaimed albums later, “High Road” and “Don’t Let Up”, the band’s latest studio work shows them still burning with that melodious high octane hard rock energy…

NIGHT RANGER – Big In Japan [2 CD] (Collectors Dream Records) Out of Print

American Melodic Hard Rock kings NIGHT RANGER released this not so well known album “Big In Japan” – a phenomenal live show recorded at Akasaka Blitz, Tokyo, Japan in 1997 – only available as 2-CD Digipak with a bonus interview part.
As Melodic Hard Rock fan, if you were a teen in the ’80s, you had a Night Ranger cassette, it was religion you had to have one. And I am not talking about “Sister Christian” – which it is an awesome song, but “Goodbye”, “Secret of my Success”, “Sing me Away”, “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”, these are those that hit the radio and you are immediately taken back to that time when you first discovered them.
Founder members Jack Blades and Brad Gillis had…

NIGHT RANGER – Live In Michigan ’84 [The complete show / ‘Alive The Live’ Japan release only]

Here’s another fulfilled request of NIGHT RANGER‘s “Live In Michigan ’84” complete show, as part of the very good Japanese specialized label “Alive The Live” series. There’s many bootlegs of this Aug 8, 1984 recording, but none with the sound quality of this CD (A++). No cuts between tracks, this the complete set list remastered.
When Night Ranger released in 1983 their 2nd studio album “Midnight Madness”, the band no more needed to support the likes of Ozzy Osbourne or ZZ Top, they became headliners touring the entire USA for over a year – started in Santa Cruz, CA on November 23, until December 31, 1984, performing more than 100 shows.
This is Night Ranger at the top of their game, playing the greatest songs from their first two albums with ‘that momentum’ like never hear after this tour. This was captured in the Summer of ’84, and Jack Blades & Co. deliver a storming performance.
HIGHLY Recommended

NIGHT RANGER – Big Life [Japanese SHM-CD remastered]

Some time ago we already featured here “Big Life“, the last ’80s album recorded by NIGHT RANGER in its remastered Japanese SHM-CD version. It was a mini-LP replica limited edition / sold out, but few months after Universal Japan did a fresh reissue.
It supposedly uses the same, last remaster, the same manufacturing process, the same material for the physical disc, but… this one doesn’t sound the same.
Call me nuts, but while the original SHM-CD release delivered a bright sonic spectrum, this recent 2016 feels different; not better, not worse; different… and great.

NIGHT RANGER – Man In Motion [Japan SHM-CD remastered Ltd mini-LP] Out Of Print

After several requests, here’ more from the Japanese High Quality SHM-CD remasters of NIGHT RANGER ’80s albums (all out of print). Here we go with the awesome, criminally underrated “Man In Motion“.
1988’s “Man In Motion” was definitely the album that marked the end of Night Ranger’s bombastic ’80s style. Many people, despite fans of this gente/ style, never properly heard “Man In Motion” or never heard it at all.
You NEED this album in your collection. After a couple of listens it will become an all time favorite of yours. This Japanese remaster on SHM-CD respects the punchy sound of the original vinyl (at least compared to mine) but of course richer on dynamics…

NIGHT RANGER – Seven Wishes [Japan remaster SHM-CD] [Limited Release]

After several requests for the recent Japanese High Quality SHM-CD remasters of NIGHT RANGER ’80s albums (sadly, all out of print), here we go with the fan favorite “Seven Wishes“… The DE-FI-NI-TI-VE Melodic Hard Rock album of all time?
Oh yes, if not the #1, Night Ranger’s “Seven Wishes” ranks among the Top 40.
All songs are killers and potential hit singles. It opens with the full-fledged melodic rock title track, as is the next track “Faces”. You have then the awesome mid-tempo “Four In The Morning” and the groovy “I Need A Woman”.
“Sentimental Street” is a tremendous melodic power ballad (Top 10 hit), “This Boy Needs To Rock” indeed rock your socks off, and the smoker “Interstate Love Affair” (featured in the movie Teachers) is one of the best Night Ranger songs ever…

NIGHT RANGER – Midnight Madness [Japan remaster SHM-CD] [Limited Release]

After several requests here’s the Japanese High Quality SHM-CD remasters of NIGHT RANGER ’80s albums (sadly, all out of print), here we go… next is “Midnight Madness“.
Following fast on the heels of their splendid debut Dawn Patrol, the guys in Night Ranger clock in with another US Melodic Hard Rock masterpiece.
For “Midnight Madness” they haven’t strayed too far from the formula they created on that first album. If anything, “Midnight Madness” rocks even harder. Despite this album spawned the band’s biggest hit in the form of a super-ballad “Sister Christian” – which served as their commercial breakthrough – “Midnight Madness” is mostly driven by hard rockers.
Just check opener “(You Can Still) Rock In America” (featuring The Voice Of Rock Glenn Hughes on backing vocals), the stormy “Why Does Love Have To Change” or the pulsating “Rumors In The Air”…

NIGHT RANGER – Dawn Patrol [Japan remaster SHM-CD] [Limited Release]

After several requests, here we have the Japanese High Quality SHM-CD remasters of NIGHT RANGER ’80s albums (sadly, all out of print), here we go… first with “Dawn Patrol“, Night Ranger’s debut studio album.
The group’s origins can be traced to Rubicon, a pop/funk group including bassist Jack Blades, drummer Kelly Keagy and guitarist Brad Gillis. Whe Rubicon disbanded, the 3 started to perform under the name ‘Stereo’, later adding keyboardist Alan Fitzgerald, a former member of Montrose, in 1980.
Fitzgerald soon recommended enlisting a second virtuoso guitarist, so Jeff Watson, who led his own band in Northern California. The seeds were sown for a new Melodic Hard Rock band, initially called simply ‘Ranger’…

This one has been requested: The Japanese Deluxe Edition of NIGHT RANGER‘s album “High Road” pressed on SHM-CD, plus the Best Buy version exclusive bonus track, and the regular edition bonus track.Produced by the band itself, “High Road”, is definitely one of the best Melodic Rock albums of this decade, and for many, one of the best in Night Ranger’s...
