BONFIRE – Don’t Touch the Light (MMXXIII Version) (2023) *HQ*

Since more than 35 years, BONFIRE are the embodiment of “Melodic Hard ‘n Heavy made in Germany”. September 22, 2023 will see the band reissue their most iconic albums “Point Blank”, “Fireworks” and “Don’t Touch The Light” as MMXXIII / 2023 re-recording versions with an entirely new artwork.
As one of the group’s founding members and its main composer, Hans Ziller came up with an ambitious idea: How would the songs from those now slightly dated releases sound if they were re-recorded in contemporary studio conditions? This concept was particularly exciting because the band’s current line-up. As Ziller comments: “What we wanted to do was to record the songs as if Bonfire had been a metal band in the Eighties!”
Naturally, you need first-rate musicians for this kind of ambitious, re-recording undertaking, and that’s precisely what BONFIRE mark 2023 have: Young Greek singer DYAN has recently joined the BONFIRE fold. The 30-year-old vocalist is a big BONFIRE fan since his teens, so it was easy for him to cut all the 35 songs from the three cult albums in less than two weeks.
Don’t Touch the Light (MMXXIII Version)” just kills!!!
It’s pretty exciting to hear all of that classic songs done by a fresh, younger version of Bonfire, with modern recording/production values really making the songs shine…

With the current Bonfire line-up, including the band’s new singer Dyan, the songs from ‘Fireworks‘ feels more metallic, with the dynamics increased which, together with a powerful sound, makes this re-recording to a good time travel back into the 80s.

BONFIRE – Point Blank (MMXXIII Version) (2023) *HQ*

Since more than 35 years, BONFIRE are the embodiment of “Melodic Hard ‘n Heavy made in Germany”. September 22, 2023 will see the band reissue their most iconic albums “Point Blank”, “Fireworks” and “Don’t Touch The Light” as MMXXIII / 2023 re-recording versions with an entirely new artwork.

The songs from “Point Blank” are perhaps which better suit Bonfire’s current sound / line up, and the remakes feel natural, more metallic with dynamics increased but still melodic. ”Point Blank (MMXXIII Version)” just kills!

LESSMANN / VOSS – Rock Is Our Religion (2022)

Vocalists/multi-instrumentalists Claus Lessmann and Michael Voss – who also produce acts such as Michael Schenker – is a combination that makes hard rock fans sit up immediately. Considering the two’s various collaborations – lately as members of PHANTOM V – spread over several decades, Their new project LESSMANN / VOSS and upcoming album “Rock Is Our Religion” is way more than a debut.
The album, which was recorded and produced by Voss at German Kidwood Studios Münstertal and Kidroom Studios Greven (only Vincent Golly’s drums were tracked by Mathi Brandstetter at Home Studios Hamburg, Germany), rather is a relevation, a bow down to genuine rock packed in 49 minutes of handmade music performed to the point.
Lessmann and Voss complement each other over these 12 tracks as if they hadn’t done anything else before: from mysteriously starting opener “Medicine Man” to lead single “Smoke Without A Fire”, the recording of “Take My Heart And Run”, circling back to one of their earlier songwriting cooperations in the ’90s, and the duo’s interpretation of AMERICA’s 1975 hit song “Sister Golden Hair”, this album impressively shows that it still doesn’t need many frills to create impactful hard rock music nowadays…
