DIRTY PASSION – Dirty Passion (2015)
*
Swedish hard rockers DIRTY PASSION are not strangers to this blog, we already presented their two previous albums but now it’s time for Dirty Passion’s self-titled 3rd album, destined to put the quartet on the top of the genre’s present bands.
They must be doing things right, as Dirty Passion is touring all over Europe supporting Lordi.
After the second album was released guitarist Chrisse Olson and drummer Markus Windberg were the only remaining members of the original line-up, and they started to re-shape Dirty Passion’s focus
The more classic hard rock of the debut was given its walking papers in favour of a kicking and rawer approach and I have to say this “new” sound fit the guys like the proverbial glove.
A third album is considered by many as the one on which a band deploys all its musical powers to show believers and non-believers that they are a force to be reckoned with. Well, as far as I’m concerned Dirty Passion have surely stepped up their game to be in the major league.
Out of the 11 tracks on offer only one – the really good melodic midtempo “42 Nights”, offers the listener a moment to catch his breath.
A full-on sleazy hard rock Skid Row-type of assault is the best way to describe this album and if you call yourself a fan of the genre you are sure to find much to your liking when cracking tracks like the fast paced opener “Hallelujah” and “Los Angeloser” – both complete with pumping bass lines and frantic riffing which puts them firmly in the territory of fellow Swedes Confess – the swaying rhythm of the melodic “Bitch” or the cracking “Shame” that will have you pumping your fist in no time.
Nice guitars with a memorable chorus and impressive guitar solo can be found in “Zip Of Fire”, while brilliant vocals with power and energy and echoes of the first Crazy Lixx sounding guitars are heard in “Die Free”.
Rock ‘N’ Roll drive is in “Get Back” with strong groovy guitar riffs and a pounding rhythmic section.
There’s more energy – but all ‘clean’ as on whole CD – on “The Ballad Of The Skank”, a melodic and catchy refrain on the enjoyable “The Mess” and sharp razor riffs in the kick-ass “Bad Karma”.
Swedes Dirty Passion have definitely moved up quite a few places on the Swedish hard rock ladder with “Dirty Passion”, but I think they have gone even far, they are ready to play in the major leagues.
“Dirty Passion” rocks hard with melody as driven force, it’s energetic and catchy. Production is vibrant, kicking and bright, and the guys play their hearts out on every note. Do you need more?
Highly Recommended.
