We already featured some titles from the great Sony Music Japan campaign titled AOR CITY 1000, a low-priced remastered reissue on 100 classic AOR / AC albums from their back catalog, many of them out of print or hard to find. Now the label has presented AOR CITY Series Vol.2 2017, new 100 classic albums available for a limited period of time until the end of 2018.
One little pearl you can’t miss is MARC JORDAN‘s “Talking Through Pictures“, for years out of print and very hard ro find, a much sought after album by AOR collectors.

A very well known cat during the ’80s stellar session musician scene, Canadian singer-songwriter and record producer MARC JORDAN won the ’94 ‘Best Producer Juno Award’ (equivalent to Grammy), and has worked with the likes of Jay Graydon, Rod Stewart, Cher, Stan Bush, etc.
Jordan is a sound perfectionist, and this “Talking Through Pictures” released in the second half of the ’80s is not an exception, immaculately produced & recorded with clinical detail.

“Talking Through Pictures” mix Lite AOR, smooth Westcoast and rock&pop, all at the same time.
How is that? Jordan had worked with many colleagues as session man / songwriter, and recorded composed for artists from different genres, and this album resulted a blend of his influences.
In many ways, the album reminds me of Trevor Rabin’s ’80s works, solo and alongside with YES Big Generator era – not strange ‘cos Trevor plays guitars, keyboards and who knows what else here. Listen ‘Seek And You Shall Find’ and then tell me.

You have also other great session cats like guitar master Michael Landau, Tony Berg, super pump bass-man Stu Hamm, Stan Bush, Timothy B. Schmit, and many more.

Among the players we find as well guitarist Steve Farris and drummer Pat Mastelotto, both from Mr. Mister. and here’s a strong point of reference for Marc Jordan’ “Talking Through Pictures”: it sounds a lot like Mr. Mister. Check ‘Human Race’.
Doesn’t ‘Inside The Glass Bead’ sounds a bit like an Alan Parsons mid-Eighties song? Oh yes. But all this is crafted with an elegant ‘lite Aorish feel’ and all kind of keyboards here and there (not in the pedestrian way).
