JOURNEY – Raised On Radio +2 [Blu-Spec CD2 / Limited Release] *HQ*

As part of the Sony Music Japan Blu-Spec CD2 / DSD remastering reissue of some JOURNEY classic albums, here’s 1986’s “Raised On Radio” , as requested, in max quality.
Journey’s ninth new studio album “Raised On Radio” found the group reduced to a trio of guitarist Neal Schon, singer Steve Perry, and keyboard player Jonathan Cain. They lost their regular rhythm section, but to be honest, Journey only needed these 3 members who always provided the songwriting, arrangements, and in short, the band’s appeal.
According to times (released in the mid ’80s”) “Raised On Radio” has a glossy production and a melodic, accessible radio friendly approach like never before.
Schon’s guitar still cut through the fat keyboard chords, and Perry’s fluid tenor still gave the songs an airy, melodic…

JOURNEY – The Way We Used To Be EP (2022) HQ

This past February, founding JOURNEY guitarist Neal Schon shared the definitive track list of “Freedom”, the upcoming new album (July) from the band in more than a decade.
Following the band’s acrimonious split with drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory back in 2020, the current line up of the band includes Schon, Jonathan Cain, Arnel Pineda, and new recruits legendary drummer / producer Narada Michael Walden, keyboardist/backing singer Jason Derlatka, and also legendary bassist Randy Jackson.
“Freedom” will include the song “The Way We Used To Be“, the multi-platinum band’s first new music since 2011’s album Eclipse, and the first track released by the band’s revamped lineup. “The Way We Used To Be” marked Walden and Derlatka’s first studio recordings with the band, and Jackson’s first since 1986’s “Raised On Radio”.
Meanwhile, other songs from the album surfaced…

JONATHAN CAIN – Arise (2022)

While very busy written & recording the new music with his band JOURNEY – which will release its first album of all new songs in over a decade, “Freedom”, on July 8 – JONATHAN CAIN found time to release his new solo album “Arise“.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee keyboardist, singer and songwriter, apart of his work with journey and songwriting collaborations for the biggest names in the industry during the last four decades, has a solid solo career.
Cain has spent decades pouring out his musical gifts in front of huge audiences, but when not touring, he can be found serving his home church and has never been more fulfilled than in his role as worship leader. And his music has a strong religious lyric message.
Musically, “Arise” is an uplifting, melodic rock& pop album with a light AOR feel, impeccably recorded, mixed & produced…

After the recent JOURNEY posts here one of you asked as well for “Departure“, in its Japanese Deluxe Paper Sleeve Mini Vinyl LP Replica package and pressed on a high quality Blu-Spec CD2 disc. It uses the last DSD remastering and on this CD format it truly sounds fabulous.

As you may know, the ‘Greatest Hits 2’ by American AOR giants JOURNEY was released on November 1, 2011 – 23 years after the first greatest hits package in 1988. There was also a special edition including both discs. Then in 2013, the 2-CD set was released in Japan entitled “Ultimate Best: Greatest Hits I & II“, pressed on two wonderful sounding CD’s with the Blu-SpecCD2 technology, including one bonus track each.
The 2-CD turned out of print soon, but now, as part of this year’s Journey campaign there’s a low-priced Blu-Spec CD2 reissue, available for a limited period of time until the end of 2017.

Best Reissue album 2017, #2 : BAD ENGLISH – Bad English [Rock Candy remastered +2] (2017)

BAD ENGLISH self-titled debut “Bad English” has been Remastered & Reloaded by Rock Candy Records including 2 bonus tracks. The last remastered version of this awesome album went out of print long time ago, so this fresh treatment – far superior – is more than welcomed for all AOR fans worldwide.
There were many attempts at piecing together super-groups during the late ’80s but few were as successful as Bad English, a project born from the mash-up of two hugely influential outfits, namely the Babys (John Waite, Ricky Philips) and Journey (Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon and, later, Deen Castronovo).
Both groups had featured talent to die for, so anticipation was extremely high for this noble alliance.
Fortunately, unlike similar collaborations, the results were spectacular, leaving no one in any doubt that Bad English had delivered a cornerstone record, one that is still revered to this day.

If Journey‘s short-lived ’90s reunion sounded like a return to form, that was because the work – a lot of it – had finally paid off. New producer Kevin Shirley (Mr. Big, Aerosmith) put the freshly reformed early ’80s lineup of Neal Schon, Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory and Steve Smith through a rigorous wood-shedding period in the run up to “Trial by Fire”.
By the time the album arrived in October 1996, Journey was working at a peak pace, able to put down nearly complete song takes live in the studio…
