CRIMSONIC – Heartsbury (2022)
Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, CRIMSONIC‘s music has a lot of influence from both modern and classic arena rock, combining energetic guitar riffs, catchy melodies and emotional lyrics. “Heartsbury” is their first full length album to be internationally distributed, produced by well-known Finnish rock producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (e.g. HIM, Apocalyptica, Sentenced) and vocal recordings done by Sampsa Astala (e.g. Lordi, Stala & SO.).
It’s a very well crafted 11-tracker, mastered by Grammy-awarded mastering engineer Ted Jensen (e.g. Eagles, Toto, Styx) at Sterling Sound in the USA, so expect a smooth sounding CD with attention to detail.
Songs like ‘Petrol’, ‘All Bad Things’, ‘All Bad Things’ all are rocking tunes driven by sharp riffs, while ‘Set Me Free’, ‘Place Where You Belong’ or ‘Inside Out’ lean more on the melodic rock side, with midtempo ‘When You’re Gone’ bordering modern AOR.
CRIMSONIC doesn’t sounds like your typical Scandinavian band from the genre, at places their style is quite ‘American’, with nice references to the ’80s & ’90s however always feeling modern. The songwriting on “Heartsbury” is pretty diverse, with the band trying to give a fresh approach to each track with different arrangements.
A very interesting and refreshing spin on classic melodic (hard) rock with modern sound production.
