JANI LANE – Jabberwocky [the unreleased ’93 album] (1st Gen source) *0dayrox Exclusive*

As requested, here’s the unreleased album the late Warrant front man JANI LANE recorded in 1993; “Jabberwocky“. There has been a lot of bootlegs of these recordings – some also pressed on CD and sold at eBay, hence around 2004-2005 Lane decided to finally properly release that shelved tapes.
However a record deal appeared but asking for fresh, more contemporary rock, and the result was Jani’s first solo record ‘Back Down To One’, with a much more modern sound.
The songs on “Jabberwocky” are very early ’90s, quite acoustically driven – even the uptempo – something in vogue at the time with Mr. Big and Tesla successful acoustical albums. All are wonderfully melodic tunes, ‘very Jani Lane’.
This is a copy taken from a 1st Generation tape personally given by a friend of Jani to a 0dayrox team member many years ago, after he confirmed that Lane definitely shelved the entire project. The sound quality is much better that the bootlegs floating the web. And we have some new songs recorded 2004-2005, new material Jani Lane wrote for the inclusion into “Jabberwocky”.

JANI LANE (Warrant) – Back Down To One [European reissue]

Back Down To One” is the debut solo album by the late JANI LANE, former lead vocalist of platinum pop-metal heroes Warrant. Originally released by UK label Z Records in 2003, the disc had been out of print since many years with fans asking a reissue, appeared in 2015.
Lane was still part of Warrant when “Back Down To One” was first released, featuring a band he assembled composed of guitarist Matt Cleary, ex-Defcon bass player Mark Mathews and drummer Adam Mercer. The bulk of the material would be co-composed by his erstwhile Warrant colleague Keri Kelli (also Alice Cooper, Shameless, Stephen Pearcy et all).
Shortly after the album’s release Lane was admitted to a rehab center for alcohol and drug-related exhaustion. Following rehab and nearly two years of arguments and disagreements with Warrant band members, Lane officially quit Warrant in January 2004, and after a few acting roles and appearances on compilations, attempted to restart his own version of Warrant…

ERIK TURNER – Demos For Diehards (feat Jani Lane) (1998)

In a similar fashion Jerry Dixon did with the ‘Hollywood Underground’, Warrant’s guitarist ERIK TURNER also released in the late Nineties his CD titled “Demos For Diehards“, with songs written for a potential Warrant album.
Half of these are co-written with Butch Walker (Southgang guitarist), one with future Kiss guitarist Tommy Thayer (who also play on it), there’s songs with Adam Shore who was one of Warrant’s lead vocalists when Jani left, etc.
But the star here is the late Jani Lane: he sings in three unreleased Warrant songs, and his performance is among his finest moments, even better or equal to the band’s first albums.
Despite its horrible cover artwork and the album’s title, this isn’t ‘For Diehards’ only, believe me, this is very good Eighties inspired material – among the best Melodic Hard Rock song appeared in the ’90s in America – with a pretty good sound quality too.

HOLLYWOOD UNDERGROUND – st (feat Jeff Scott Soto, members of Warrant, Roxy Blue, Keel, Southgang)

As requested, here’s the album released under the name HOLLYWOOD UNDERGROUND by Jerry Dixon (Warrant’s bass player) including the several tracks they recorded with different musicians, and some other side-projects that never materialized.
This is ’80s US glam metal / melodic hard rock with catchy choruses featuring the likes of Jeff Scott Soto, ex Roxy Blue vocalist Todd Poole on songs when he was briefly part of Warrant, Jesse Harte (ex Southgang vocalist), unreleased demos with Jani Lane, Night Ranger drummer Kelly Keagy, Tommy Thayer (Kiss, ex Black ‘N Blue, ex Doro) on guitar, and more.
Sound quality is fine overall, and it’s a pleasure to hear, as example, Soto on the rocker ‘Arms of Love”, Jesse Harte’s voice on ‘Girl’, Todd Poole on ‘Does it Matter’…
