Continuing with the excellent CHEAP TRICK Japanese BluSpec CD2 remastered versions with loads of bonus tracks, here’s the one & unique “Dream Police“. Produced by Tom Werman this is the band’s most commercially successful studio album, and for a reason; “Dream Police” is power pop / melodic rock perfection.
Simply put, you NEED this album in your collection. And this BluSpec CD2 remastered reissue includes 7 bonus tracks to make it even more treasurable.
By the time their fourth studio album Dream Police arrived in September 1979, Cheap Trick had gone from cult following to mega-stardom — all within a year. ”Dream Police” was recorded (including a young dude named S. Lukather on one song), wrapped up and ready to roll out in 1978 when a funny thing happened: their record company decided to release the live album ‘At Budokan’ in Japan due to their rabid fan base there, but stateside demands for the import grew so great that Epic took a gamble and issued it domestically.
That live album was the big breakthrough the band had been waiting for and, seemingly overnight, everyone…

By the dawn of 1980, Cheap Trick had risen to major star status following the success of ‘At Budokan’ and ‘Dream Police’, both released in 1979 to major critical and commercial triumph. It looked as if the new decade was going to belong to this fab foursome.
The band wanted to make a change while retaining their trademark sound. To help them do this, they called in perhaps the biggest gun in terms of record producers, George Martin, the man behind the board for nearly every note of the Beatles’ recording career…

Released on April 30, 1982, “One On One” starts in high gear with “I Want You.” Singer Robin Zander shows off his mighty pipes on this straightforward rocker, while “If You Want My Love” is a perfect example of Cheap Trick assimilating their influences into something all their own…

CHEAP TRICK – Standing On The Edge +6 [Japan BluSpec CD2 remastered miniLP]

This 2021 CHEAP TRICK have made an historic chart debut with their acclaimed new album, ‘In Another World’. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ 20th studio album enters at #1 on Billboard’s “Rock” chart — their highest first-week chart placement in the veteran band’s long, remarkable career.
Many of you asked for some of their other records, and we have here the recent, terrific Japanese BluSpec CD2 remastered versions with loads of bonus tracks.
Produced by master-man Jack Douglas, according to times (1985), ”Standing On The Edge” has that all mid-Eighties magic. This Japan CD includes a worthwhile outtake, alternate versions and the classic
‘Mighty Wings’ (from ‘Top Gun’ original soundtrack).

CHEAP TRICK – Busted +7 [Japan BluSpec CD2 remastered miniLP] (2017)

CHEAP TRICK have made an historic chart debut with their acclaimed new album, ‘In Another World’. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ 20th studio album enters at #1 on Billboard’s “Rock” chart — their highest first-week chart placement in the veteran band’s long, remarkable career.
Many of you asked for some of their other records, and we have the terrific Japanese BluSpec CD2 remastered versions with loads of bonus tracks.
Here’s one of our favorites from the band; “Busted“, and you know how an album released in 1990 sounds alike, even more if there’s master producer Richie Zito (fresh from producing Bad English) behind the desk.

CHEAP TRICK – Lap Of Luxury +8 [Japan BluSpec CD2 remastered miniLP] (2017)

With the very good new CHEAP TRICK album – a band which never fails in delivering quality material, many of you asked for some of their other records. 1988’s “Lap Of Luxury” was some kind of a ‘comeback’ album for CHEAP TRICK, and what a way to do it: the LP was a smash hit and scored three Top-40 singles, one of them, ‘The Flame’, #1.
This Japanese edition pressed on high quality BluSpec CD2 is the definitive, remastered version of this stupendous ’80s album including no less than 8 bonus tracks. Produced by the unique Richie Zito, there’s as well songwriting contributions by the likes of Diane Warren, Holly Knight and Gregg Giuffria.

CHEAP TRICK – Woke Up With A Monster [Rare Japanese Edition +1]

With the very good new CHEAP TRICK album – a band that never fails in delivering quality material, many of you asked for some of their other, lesser known records. We think their 1994’s “Woke Up With A Monster” is a criminally underrated platter, appeared in a time when Cheap Trick’s melodic feel-good vibe wasn’t in the music industry focus.
Amidst competing with the grunge movement of its time, ”Woke Up With A Monster” pulsated then, and radiates still, in 2021. With songs that beat down the door of stagnant Rock Music and kicks it’s weak ass from sunrise to sundown, this is a Cheap Trick album that sets an example of just how to rock steady in the face of pop-cultural ignorance of the day.
With songwriting contributions from the likes of Jim Peterik, Mark Spiro & Terry Reid and a bright production by Ted Templeman, ”Woke Up With A Monster” is a kickin’ album that glows bright amongst the glut of mid 1990’s Rock and Hard Rock album releases, which many seemed to stray away from having any semblance of Classic Rock influence all together.
This is the rare Japanese Edition never reissued, featuring a bonus track never included into any compilation released after…

CHEAP TRICK – The Epic Archive Vol. 3 (1984-1992)

Sony Music / Epic Records released three CHEAP TRICK rarities compilations entitled “Cheap Trick The Epic Archive” something that had been rumored to be in the works for years.
The track listing on “The Epic Archive Vol. 3 (1984-1992)” is a must for fans and collectors comprising the group’s 1984-1992 period (my favorite), featuring many songs previously unavailable and most of Cheap Trick’s hardest to find soundtrack contribution material.
Among the pearls, you have here ‘Money (That’s What I Want)’ from “Caddyshack II” Original Soundtrack, ‘You Want It’ from “Say Anything”, ‘I Will Survive’ from “Gladiator”, or the awesome ‘Mighty Wings’ from “Top Gun”, but also very rare alternate / single versions of ‘The Flame’, ‘She’s Got Motion’, ‘It’s Only Love’, etc.
Additionally, it’s really interesting the inclusion of ‘Big Bang’ (Japanese version of ‘Busted’, hard to find) and lovely different mixes..

CHEAP TRICK – The Epic Archive, Vol. 2 [1980-1983]

Sony Music / Epic released three CHEAP TRICK rarities compilations entitled “Cheap Trick The Epic Archive” something that had been rumored to be in the works for years. The track listing in all volumes is a must for fans and collectors, with this “Cheap Trick The Epic Archive Vol.2” covering perhaps Cheap Trick’s more creative period (1980-1983) featuring many songs previously unavailable on digital format and most of Cheap Trick’s hardest to find soundtrack material.
In fact, a track in this “Cheap Trick The Epic Archive Vol.2” – the band’s contribution to Spring Break Original Soundtrack – is not available as digital download / streaming due to licensing troubles.
… don’t worry, we have it 🙂
These ‘Spring Break OST’ tracks alone worth the purchase as always were almost impossible to find. But there’s much more to enjoy here, such as..

CHEAP TRICK – The Epic Archive, Vol. 1 [1975-1979]

Sony Music / Epic released three CHEAP TRICK rarities compilations entitled “Cheap Trick ; The Epic Archive” something that had been rumored to be in the works for years. The track listing is a must for fans and collectors, this “Cheap Trick The Epic Archive Vol.1” including lots of rare tracks from the early era of the band.
Some of these tracks were included as bonus in the reissues of Cheap Trick’s first four albums, others are unreleased, and now you have all here in one package. We find excellent sound quality of…

CHEAP TRICK – In Another World (2021)

CHEAP TRICK has been releasing albums since the year Jimmy Carter took over for Gerald Ford. Their upcoming, ”In Another World”, is their 20th. That’s four of five careers in regular band years, and their first studio effort since 2017.
It sounds like classic Cheap Trick, a band that will never voluntarily quit. The energy is still there, the dedication to the craft of writing power-pop rocking songs is still there, Zander’s vocals are intact, and the elder Nielsen’s guitar tone still sounds like it could chip rust off an old battleship.
This, their twentieth studio album, is one of their best yet. As ever the band appear to have listened to both every record ever made and nothing at all since 1977. Riffs pile upon riffs like dogs in a basket, harmonies are layered upon other harmonies, and everything sounds like polished thunder…

ROBIN ZANDER – Countryside Blvd. (201?) Unreleased

This one has been requested over and over again in comments for a long time: the second unreleased solo album from Cheap Trick’s frontman ROBIN ZANDER, entitled “Countryside Blvd.
Zander’s long-gestating solo effort has a complicated release history. It was supposed to come out in 2011 but has been stalled for reasons no one seems to know.
Apparently it was for sale on iTunes for two days before the record label spontaneously removed it.
So this is a strange case of an album released, then immediately un-released.
And let me tell you, it’s a shame, because it’s a first-rate outing from the lead singer of Cheap Trick that has had fans flummoxed by its very (non) existence since it originally surfaced… before mysteriously disappearing within a few days of its debut…
