STRYPER – To Hell With The Devil [Japanese Edition 1st press]

STRYPER are about to release their new 2018 album, and one of you asked for remasters of their more celebrated ’80s records. None of classic Stryper albums have been remastered with ‘modern’ technology / equipment. Their first LP’s received a ‘vintage’ Nineties remastering (beefed up gain), and Michael Sweet did his own ‘retouch’ to To Hell With The Devil in...

STRYPER – The Yellow And Black Attack [Japan Edition + Rare Original 1984 EP / Different Mix]

Many of you asked for STRYPER more celebrated ’80s records in a fresh remastered form. But none of classic Stryper albums have been remastered with ‘modern’ technology / equipment.
Their first LP’s received a ‘vintage’ Nineties remastering (beefed up gain), and Michael Sweet did his own ‘retouch’ to To Hell With The Devil in 2000’s. But nothing more.
Additionally, ’80s Stryper albums have been reissued / re-released several times, with added tracks, different artworks, etc.
So the question is: which edition is the best sounding from each?
Let’s start with “The Yellow And Black Attack“, Stryper’s first full length album.
Initially released in 1984, “The Yellow And Black Attack” was in fact a six-song EP, and fewer than 20,000 (only vinyl and cassette) copies were pressed, as their label, Enigma Records, was unsure of the potential.

SWEET & LYNCH – Unified [Japan Edition +1] (2017)

One of you asked for the Japanese version of SWEET & LYNCH new album “Unified“, including an exclusive bonus track. SWEET & LYNCH — the super-band featuring guitarist / vocalist Michael Sweet of STRYPER, legendary guitarist George Lynch (ex DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB), bassist James LoMenzo (WHITE LION, MEGADETH) and drummer Brian Tichy (WHITESNAKE, DEAD DAISIES) — surpassed themselves with this...

SWEET & LYNCH – Only To Rise [Japanese Edition +1] HQ

One of you asked for a revamp on SWEET & LYNCH‘s really good debut record “Only To Rise“, this time in its Japanese Edition including a bonus track.
’80s Hard Rock is far from dead. A new collaboration from George Lynch and Michael Sweet is coming to show the rumors of its demise are premature.
“Only To Rise” is the debut album title, and SWEET & LYNCH is the name of the newest super-group to come together to make some old fashion, ass kickin’ classic US Hard Rock.
It’d be tacky to grab an easy pun and say here’s a match made in you-know-where, yet an alliance between Stryper’s Michael Sweet and guitar hero George Lynch is most definitely a match. This pairing only seems awkward upon first glance, but there’s a perfect logic to these guys hooking up.
Michael Sweet himself has stated on record he’d considered Lynch a ‘bucket list’ musician to work with and, straight outta the Eighties, SWEET & LYNCH was born.

SWEET & LYNCH – Unified (2017)

SWEET & LYNCH — the super-band featuring guitarist / vocalist Michael Sweet of STRYPER, legendary guitarist George Lynch (ex DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB), bassist James LoMenzo (White Lion, Megadeth) and drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Billy Idol, Dead Daisies) — will release its sophomore album, “Unified“, on November 10 via Frontiers Music.
A few years back we got Only To Rise, the first album from a collaboration between Sweet and Lynch. While more melodic rock and commercial than both artists’ other recent endeavors, the release still impressed, and proved that they twosome had surprisingly strong musical chemistry.
Both men keep busy in multiple acts, but have come back to give us another Sweet & Lynch record.
The duo’s debut album was an unexpected surprise, and definitely has had fans excited for the second release and their equally-notable rhythm section of LoMenzo and Tichy.
So, how does “Unified” stack up? Is the second Sweet & Lynch album another success?

STRYPER – Fallen [Japanese Edition +1] (2015)

The new studio album from STRYPER, “Fallen“, is being released worldwide today, but apperared in Japan two weeks a go with a bonus track, the excellent acoustic version of the album’s ballad ‘All Over Again’. STRYPER – Fallen (2015)

Fallen“, the ninth studio album from STRYPER, will be released worldwide tomorrow, Friday, October 16 via Frontiers Music.
The previous album appeared a couple years ago was Stryper’s original line-up in a strong return to form, delivering muscular studio performances of mostly-new material. “Fallen” continues the trend, with Michael Sweet (vocals, guitar), Oz Fox (guitars), Tim Gaines (bass), and Robert Sweet (drums) sounding bolder and more aggressive than ever, both musically and lyrically.
You like Stryper? Well, this is classic Stryper – look no further.
The properly thunderous opening track, ‘Yahweh’, starts with a darkly sounding choral riff with the repetition of ‘Yahweh’ leading into a galloping metal guitar, drums and bass attack with Michael Sweet’s signature scream – and you know immediately that this is Stryper. All of the expected elements follow, including a surprise or two along the way.
Sweet’s vocals are as distinctive as ever but occasionally offer a raspier edge, especially on track 2, the title track ‘Fallen’ where he screams “the end is callin‘”.
‘Big Screen Lies’ also has Michael half singing / half speaking in the middle section of the song.
