LAND OF GYPSIES (Terry Ilous) – Land of Gypsies (2021)

LAND OF GYPSIES, formerly known as Gang Of Souls, is a new L.A. based band featuring an artistic union between vocalist Terry Ilous (XYZ, ex-Great White), together with producer and bassist Fabrizio Grossi (Glenn Hughes, Supersonic Blues Machine, Eric Gales, etc.).
Rounding out the line-up are Serge Simic on guitar (The Slam, Supersonic Blues Machine) and Tony Morra on drums. The band spent a wealth of time during the pandemic in 2020 working on and developing their sound. Their target was to write music leaning towards a classic hard rock sound with unforgettable melodies and a solid bluesy background to compliment Ilous’ stellar vocals.
Terry is the centerpiece on this self-ltitled debut album, and he’ll turn even more heads than what he’s been admirably doing since XYZ’s debut and when he was with Great White. This record represents the type of straight ahead hard rock music that really makes us move.

CAGE (Terry Ilous / JK Northrup) – Cage [Japan Edition +1] HQ

As requested, here’s the Japanese Edition of the CAGE‘s self-titled album, the project formed in the Nineties by talented vocalist Terry Ilous (XYZ, Great White) and guitarist Jeff ‘JK’ Northrup (King Kobra, Shortino/Northrup, et all). The album was reissued in Europe some years after by Axe Killer Records including an excellent bonus track which we added as extra.
Ilous & Northrup are not alone. A bunch of incredible friends and musicians accompany them on “Cage”: Pat Fontaine (XYZ), Carmine Appice (Cactus, Ted Nugent, King Kobra), Vinnie Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio), Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder), James Kottak (Scorpions) play here all over the recording – but also Matt Luneau (drums), the late Randy Castillo (Ozzy, Mötley Crüe, drums), Sean Mc Nabb (Quiet Riot, bass), Phil Soussan (Ozzy, bass), the great multi-instrumentalist Jeff Pilson (Dokken, Foreigner)…

TERRY ILOUS – Hired Gun (2021)

Hired Gun” is a compilation put together by singer TERRY ILOUS (XYZ) featuring his vocals & songwriting for other projects.
“Over the years I have been hired to sing on many albums” – says Terry – “Realizing that my fans may not be able to buy multiple CD’s for just a few songs, I have created ‘Hired Gun’, which I hope to be an ongoing series with music I have been hired to sing for artists around the world. JACK FROST (feat Ted Poley, Terry Ilous, Paul Shortino) – Out In The Cold [2020 reissue]

While you may remember the character ‘Jack Frost’ from a number of fairytales, this JACK FROST is a respected axeman of bands such as Savatage, Metalium, and Seven Witches.
For this solo, just reissued album “Out In The Cold”, Frost recruited a wide ranging guest list including star vocalists like Ted Poley, Terry Ilous, Paul Shortino, Jeff Martin (Michael Schenker Group, Racer X) and more.
It’s a mix of original material and covers (songs by Foreigner, April Wine, .38 Special and The Babys) with the contributing vocalists adding their own lyrics to Frost’s music, which makes for a varied and interesting approach.
There’s also more known players here; on bass Mike Duda (W.A.S.P.), Mike LePond, Rev Jones (Steelheart), Joey Vera (Lizzy Borden), drummer Patrick Johansson (Takara, Malmasteen), Chuck White (Dee Snider), Eric Ragno (Khymera, Tony Mills, KISS) and many more…

XYZ – Hungry [Axe Killer remaster +1] Out Of Print

Together with their first album, this was requested here as well, XYZ second release “Hungryremastered by Axe Killer / Bad Reputation Records including a bonus track.
While this strong band fronted by vocalist Terry Ilous wasn’t considered by rock critics as a top act from the late Eighties / early Nineties US Hard Rock scene, most major, platinum-seller bands and musicians of the genre mentioned XYZ as personal favorites.
Aiming to rock harder than on their debut album but still maintaining a polished sound, for second record “Hungry” XYZ called guru Neil Kernon (Dokken, Judas Priest) to co-produce together with George Tutko (Lita Ford, Eric Martin).
This association resulted in a more straightforward, no-frills bluesy hard rock album plenty of energy, great vocals and sizzling guitar work.
This quite hard to find, now out of print (135 Euros) remastered reissue by Axe Killer / Bad Reputation Records delivers a noticeable improvement in sound..

XYZ – XYZ [Axe Killer remaster +1] Out Of Print

This baby was requested here as well, XYZ self titled debut remastered by Axe Killer / Bad Reputation records including a bonus track.
Part of the hair metal movement but more melodic hard rock oriented sound-wise, XYZ were considered the unofficial house band of the Los Angeles nightclub The Whiskey in the mid-80s.
XYZ began in LA, California, with members Terry Ilous (vocals), Bobby Pieper (guitar), Patt Fontaine (bass) and Joey Pafumi (drums), the latter later replaced by Paul Monroe.
An early development deal with Atlantic / Enigma Records led to the recording of their debut album produced by Don Dokken, which quickly got radio play with the hits “Inside Out” and “What Keeps Me Loving You.”
Great rocking melodious album with a pristine but punchy remastered sound…
