One of you asked how it sounds the Japanese nine-album cardboard sleeve (mini LP) remastered reissue series of STYX on high quality SHM-CD. In one word; outstanding.
All were released as Limited Edition and already turned out of print.
Their masterpiece “Paradise Theater” was requested again on this blog, an essential STYX album in your collection.

“Paradise Theater” was Styx greatest commercial triumph and their only #1 album in the charts, achieving triple-platinum sales. It remains as one of the best examples of the convergence between light progressive rock and AOR which typified the arena rock sound of top acts of the late-70s and early-80s such as Journey, REO Speedwagon and Kansas.
Indeed, “Paradise Theater” is for Styx their massive commercial breakthrough as it was ‘Escape’ for Journey, ‘Hi Infidelity’ for REO Speedwagon and Foreigner with ‘4’.

“Paradise Theater” produced as well three Billboard Hot 100 single hits; “The Best of Times”, “Nothing Ever Goes As Planned” and “Too Much Time on My Hands” considered among Tommy Shaw’s finest compositions ever.

Another track, “Rockin’ The Paradise” reached #8 on the Top Rock Track Chart, and of course we have here one of my favorite Styx song ever; the wonderful “Snowblind”.

“Paradise Theater” is where US AOR started in a big, massive way at the beginning of the ’80s.
These Japanese cardboard sleeve (mini LP) reissues of STYX on SHM-CD sound awesome. Unfortunately, all are out of print.
