KENZINER – Phoenix (2020)

“Phoenix” is the upcoming new album from Finland-based 5 piece KENZINER, which define themselves as classic metal, neo-classical and progressive power metal. And whilst I agree with the latter, their sound is much more melodic than a lot of Euro Power purveyors. The heavy use of Keyboards give them a distinctly different tone. This new album has a perfectly balanced...

LION – Trouble In Angel City +6 [Bad Reputation Remastered] (2020) *EXCLUSIVE*

Here’s the fresh Bad Reputation Records remastered version of LION‘s second and final album “Trouble In Angel City” (1989). Formed in 1983 in Los Angeles after ex-Tytan vocalist Kal Swan relocated from Great Britain and teamed up with drummer Mark Edwards and guitarist Doug Aldrich (who later joined Hurricane and Whitesnake), in 1986 Lion released their now rare 6-track EP “Power Love” in Japan only (which is enclosed here as bonus tracks), followed by their full length debut “Dangerous Attraction” (1987). “Trouble In Angel City” (1989) was their final release – a superb slice of classic US hard rock from start to finish and one of the strongest releases of 1989.

LION – Dangerous Attraction +1 [Digitally Remastered Limited Edition] (2018) Sold Out

Some of you ’80s children / teens may recognize LION as the band who performed the theme song for the big screen animated Transformers movie. The band, which featured guitarist Doug Aldrich (who would later join Dio and Whitesnake) and Kal Swan (of Tytan), straddled the line between hard rock and US metal, and had a sound similar to Dokken,...

LEGACY PILOTS (feat Steve Morse, Jordan Rudess & more) – Aviation (2020)

LEGACY PILOTS is a multinational band lead by German musician Frank Us which are presenting their new album titled “Aviation”. Among the musicians involved – also in songwriting and arrangements – we find Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Kansas, Flying Colors, Dixie Dregs) on guitars, Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) on keyboards, Todd Sucherman (Styx) on drums, Pete Trewavas (Marillion, Transatlantic) on bass, and many more.
And yes, this is progressive rock with brilliant musicianship on display, but also catchy pop-Rock with easy melodies and sophisticated ballads. All over the record the musicians offer a wide range of their art, in which the composition and not the undoubtedly existing technique is still in the foreground…

ELECTRIC BOYS – Groovus Maximus [remastered expanded reissue +5]

Another pleasurable request to fulfill is this pretty hard to find ELECTRIC BOYS “Groovus Maximus remastered expanded reissue“. This rocking album remained out of print for many years and thanks to an association between Universal Music, Sweden Rock Magazine and the band it was remastered and expanded with 5 bonus tracks. Sweden’s Electric Boys were one of the first and...

HEART – Magazine [Audio Fidelity SACD AFZ 171 Numbered Edition] Out Of Print

Here we have a very interesting choice of album for Audio Fidelity specialists to tackle: “Magazine“, by HEART, remastered by Steve Hoffman and pressed on a wonderful sounding SACD. “Magazine” was certainly commercially successful on its first release in Canada and the U.S., albeit in an unauthorized version that the record company released rather spitefully following fractious attempts by the...

CHINA – Sign In The Sky +10 [Bad Reputation 2xCD Remastered] (2020) *0dayrox EXCLUSIVE*

Here’s in exclusive the just released Bad Reputation Records 2xCD remastered version of CHINA‘s “Sign In The Sky“, a wonderful slice of late 80s European Melodic Rock / AOR.
To put it short, this is a cracker in the same style of Treat’s “Organized Crime”, Hurricane’s “Slave To The Thrill”, or Black ‘N Blue’s “Nasty Nasty”: a glossy, polished, hugely produced gem for the genre.
All songs are very good, melodic, groovy at places, catchy, but the star here is midtempo “In The Middle Of The Night”, one of these bass-pumped AOR tunes essential in your collection…

CHINA – We Are The Stars (Comeback album)

Veteran Melodic Rock aficionados surely remember CHINA, the Swiss combo who released their first two superbly AOR infused albums from the end of the ’80s. The band remained active since then with other recordings under their belt and touring Europe. “We Are The Stars” is China’s comeback album during the past decade, still rocking hard with melody. China always have...

The ”Lost US Jewels” Vol.6 TIMOTHY LEWIS – Timothy Lewis (2019) *EXCLUSIVE*

Here’s in exclusive another installment from the awesome ”Lost US Jewels” series, the Vol.6, American melodic rocker TIMOTHY LEWIS self-titled album “Timothy Lewis”.
Here’s a songwriter / vocalist that is Steve Perry, Kevin Chalfant and Hugo all rolled into one; a bold statement for sure, but when you get to hear this guy I’m sure you’ll agree that he is something special. As a proof, while most the material here is penned by Lewis, he also does his own version of Perry’s terrific AOR song ‘Lost Angels’ (only recorded by Perry in demo form, featured into 0dayrox’s compilation The Vault).
Lewis’ songwriting and vocal-style is very close to the one of those big Melodic Rock acts of the ’80s such as Journey, Styx and Boston, and most the recordings on this CD only were distributed as promo material to record labels.

DE MONT – Body Language [30th Anniversary Reissue / enhanced mastering] (2019) The Real One / Actual CD

For decades out of print, last year it was reissued only in Australia DE MONT‘s 1989 album “Body Language“, one of the finest Melodic Rock / AOR records coming out from Down Under during the ’80s.
On occasion of its 30th Anniversary, the release was printed exactly replicating the original artwork, but what isn’t the same for sure is the sound output. While not remastered, this new 2019 transfer to CD is fuller, bigger. We have compared this with the original disc and the difference is impressive.
Be aware of some internet sites featuring this album claiming of being this 30th Anniversary Reissue – this is the real one.

DARK STAR – Real To Reel ’87 [Digitally Remastered / 500 copies] *EXCLUSIVE*

As requested, here’s the rare Digitally Remastered version of British rockers DARK STAR album “Real To Reel” (1987), released for the first time on CD by No Remorse Records under license of Revolver Music Ltd. Despite of being reissued only four years ago, it’s already out of print as it was a 500 copies Limited Edition.
For this album Dark Star changed their initial hard rock / NWOBHM style in favor to keyboard laced melodic rock with catchy choruses. It was 1987, and bands like FM, Peroux, Shy, etc where embracing this sound as part of the British AOR / MR wave of the second half of the ’80s.
Now regarded as a collectors cult classic, and considering the original tapes were lost, it’s great to have “Real To Reel”…
