HURRICANE – Slave To Hollywood (2025) *Exclusive*

Many requests have been made here for live recordings of terrific melodic hard rock band HURRICANE. Well, here we have an exclusive: a pretty good bootleg CD titled ”Slave To Hollywood”, capturing the group during their ”Slave To The Thrill” tour.
Featuring the stellar line up of Kelly Hansen on lead vocals, Doug Aldrich on guitars, the stupendous Jay Schellen on drums, and Tony Cavazo on bass, this concert was captured by Westwood One in Hollywood, California on July 6, 1990, with the band at the peek of their powers.
HURRICANE performed a long set, presenting the killer songs from their album ”Slave To The Thrill” but also previous classics such as ‘I’m On To You’, ‘Over The Edge’ or ‘Messin’ With a Hurricane’ (here simply titled ‘Hurricane’). It’s great to hear how good HURRICANE was live, heavier than in the studio, including Doug Aldrich / Jay Schellen solos.
One of the best bands on the scene in the late Eighties.

CROSSFIRE – A Salute To Stevie Ray + rare Japan Edition Bonus Track feat. John Sykes (1996) *HQ*

We featured yesterday a remarkable tribute to the unforgettable Stevie Ray Vaughan as part of the L.A. Authority series. But another outstanding homage to the Texan guitarist appeared later: ”CROSSFIRE – A Salute to Stevie Ray”.
This release showcases top‑class guitarists delivering some truly inspired leads. Unlike the L.A. Authority album, where each lead guitarist also handled vocals, CROSSFIRE features a stable backing band anchored by drummer Jay Schellen (Unruly Child), all under the direction and production of the highly capable Billy Sherwood.
Issued as a guitar-driven homage gathering prominent Rock six-string masters there’s the incredible Steve Stevens, Trevor Rabin, Steve Morse, Doug Aldrich, Richie Kotzen, and the late John Sykes, among others.
But the Japanese CD edition of CROSSFIRE includes as bonus track another John Sykes rare performance: lead guitar on the cover of ‘Love Struck Baby’. It’s a shame this track was never released worldwide or later included on any other disc, as it’s truly a must‑have for any John Sykes fan!

Rock Candy just released their own Remastered & Reloaded version of LION‘s ”Dangerous Attraction”, the terrific 1987 album from the band featuring hotshot guitarist Doug Aldrich.
LION were one of just a handful of magical and highly talented anglo-American bands that came up through the ranks in the mid-80s. Consisting of members that had an existing degree of profile in the rock market, the band was tipped as a unit that could achieve big things. Sadly, despite the fact that it was not their fault, it wasn’t to be.

The Dead Daisies 2021 is probably an even more muscular and heavy beast than we’re heard previously and some of the riffs etched in these grooves are crushing!
