Signed by AOR Heaven Records, SIX SILVER SUNS are releasing today their debut album “As Archons Fall“. The band is a recent addition to the Finnish classic rock field, but members are all well known, experienced musicians.
All joined with the desire to wander back to the golden years of rock & pop music: the 70s and the 80s. The band’s inspiration comes from melodic progressive rock, combined with the catchy, timeless melodies from the AOR and Hard Rock genres.
SIX SILVER SUNS debut is a regarding journey through the sound of the Seventies with some Eighties flavor. Think like a hybrid of THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA and BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, spiced with melodies akin BOSTON, early JOURNEY, REO, etc.

HARLOT – Positively Downtown [Digitally Remastered +2] (2021) HQ

While HARLOT was pretty close to signing a deal with major label Atlantic at the end of the 80s, however good luck wasn’t by their side. The band managed to record an album in the early ’90s, released by themselves on cassette.
Now the original tapes have been remastered and “Positively Downtown” is being officially released on CD for the first time today, with the addition of two previously unreleased tracks and refreshed artwork.
This is well written & recorded classic late ’80s melodic hard rock / hair metal plenty of catchy melodies, melodic vocals and sweet riffs, kinda Poison meets Babylon A.D…

V.A.M.P. – Telephone Love Affair [Digitally Remastered + bonus] (2021) HQ

Alongside the Harlot album, Metallic Blue Records are releasing today as well all the ’80s recordings from V.A.M.P. – the name originally used by Harlot – all digitally remastered and officially on CD for the first time, under the title “Telephone Love Affair“.
V.A.M.P. was founded in 1986 and after intense gigs they wrote an album’s worth of songs. In 1988, the band gained interest from Atlantic Records, but they already had a melodic hard rock band into their roster called VAMP.
So A&R and managers told V.A.M.P. if they wanted to have a better chance of signing a deal, they should change their name. The band complied and changed their name to HARLOT, but it was too late and Atlantic was no longer interested.
V.A.M.P. was much more LA glammy melodic hard rock than HARLOT, with some of Cinderella, Britny Fox, early Poison, etc to their sound. All the material the band recorded 1988-90 is comprised here, surprisingly very good in sound quality for an unsigned band…

THE SONIC OVERLORDS (feat Tony Martin) – Last Days Of Babylon [CD version +1] (2021)

Praised by legendary Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin – who also agreed to appear as guest – “Last Days Of Babylon” is the debut album from Swedish classic metal outfit THE SONIC OVERLORDS. The band look to ’70s / ’80s classic melodic metal as the inspiration for their sound, using modern recording technology to deliver an updated take on the genre.
THE SONIC OVERLORDS main sound is very Sabbath Dio / Martin eras – there’s some serious Iommi-doomy riffs here – but also more melodic acts from the genre, such as early Scorpions, ’80s Yngwie Rising Force, Michael Schenker Group, etc.
THE SONIC OVERLORDS were founded in 2017 by Swedish rock guitarist Morgan Zocek. He began jamming with various musicians and writing songs inspired by classic hard rock of the late 1970s and early 1980s, but with a more modern…

OSUKARU – Starbound (2021)

The brainchild of Swedish guitarist, keyboardist and songwriter Oz Hawe Petersson (formerly known as Oz Osukaru) OSUKARU are releasing “Starbound” tomorrow, their sixth album, via AOR Heaven Records.
With roots in classic Stadium Rock, the band’s first few releases had a more AOR flavour to them, however since their properly titled effort ‘Transition’ you can hear hints of a heavier spark deep within the tracks.
Osukaru started to gain a unique, harder yet melodic sound and with their last album ‘House of Mirrors’ they landed a rock & roll homerun on which they have built upon to create this brand new comet ride titled “Starbound”.
Combining the heart and soul of classic giants such as Dokken, Winger, Def Leppard, and Whitesnake with the modern counterparts like Eclipse, Human Zoo and Brother Firetribe, “Starbound” serves a palatable slice of traditional melodic hard rock with a modern sound.
The album features a cool guest appearance from AORsters Boulevard sax player Mark Holden…

NESTOR – Kids In A Ghost Town [Japan Edition +1] (2021) HQ

Be prepared to be blown away… blown away straight to the ’80s! Sweden’s NESTOR will be release tomorrow “Kids In A Ghost Town“, not only ‘the best debut album of the year’, but the best overall.
This is pure Eighties culture, the good and the bad, the fun and the feel-good rock n’ roll of all times… Including a guest appearance by Samantha Fox (!) on vocals on one track, songs like “On The Run“, “Tomorrow“ or “1989“ would have been huge hits back in the day for sure, all wrapped by a huge – mean really huge – production sound.
No doubt about it – and no matter what might come up later this year – “Kids In A Ghost Town” is the real deal.
A MUST

DION BAYMAN – Alive (2021)

Aussie melodic rocker DION BAYMAN is back with a new album to be released tomorrow. Titled “Alive“, the 10-track collection is another showcase for Bayman talents not only as songwriter, but as performer.
With everything managed by himself – and Dion has clearly improved as vocalist & producer here, this one-man-band knows exactly how to create an enjoyable album. Dion plays every instrument on his own, he has written all the songs, he did the recording and the production – all with attention to detail, polished and melodic.
“Alive” is timeless melodic rock / AOR in the vein of Richard Marx / Rick Springfield ’80s works, then add a dash of Cheap Trick, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, etc.
Dion Bayman stands at the forefront of indie melodic pop-rock and is one of the greatest artists the genre has seen in quite some time. A Highly enjoyable album from start to finish…

TEN – Far Beyond The World +2 [Japan SHM-CD ‘TEN Essential Remaster Series’ including exclusive song] (2016) *0dayrox Exclusive*

Fronted by the unique Gary Hughes, Britain ’90s leading melodic hard rock / AOR band TEN celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2015. As the first press of their albums was difficult to obtain due to the long-term discontinuation, Japanese label Avalon / Victor Entertainment created this ‘TEN Essential Remaster Series‘, a SHM-CD carboard sleeve reissue of TEN’s best albums.
And to make the band’s 20th anniversary reissues more special, Hughes provided material from his archives and one unreleased song is added to each album. These unreleased songs are exclusive to this ‘TEN Essential Remaster Series’ not to be found into any other release.
While some TEN albums are criticized by its production – in fact, for their too many layers of sound – with 2001’s “Far Beyond The World” Gary Hughes & Co. opted for a more ‘straight’ AOR / Melodic Rock recording, and the result is one of the best CD’s of the decade for the genre.
It’s that good…

KANSAS – Leftoverture [Japan Blu-spec CD remastered +3] HQ

We started posting KANSAS early albums as these are essential to understand how this great band and overall contemporary Rock music has evolved over its history. And how better than this Japanese reissue cardboard sleeve series pressed on high quality Blu-spec CD format, fully remastered and including bonus tracks.
Early KANSAS albums needed a proper remastering to update / clean the sound but also preserve the original harmonics and analog tapes warm nature. These Blu-spec CD are amazing, believe me.
KANSAS fourth effort “Leftoverture” was their breakthrough album and a thorough representation of its assorted musical sensibilities combining hard-driving group instrumentation (with a dearth of flashy solos) with short, tight melody lines and melodic singing.
And it has the timeless classic ‘Carry On Wayward Son’, but there’s much more inside…
