BLACK SABBATH – Technical Ecstasy [Super Deluxe Edition] (2021)

As part of the current BLACK SABBATH discography reissues their seventh studio album, ”Technical Ecstasy”, is getting its Super Deluxe Edition box set.
The reissue comes as 4-CD and 5-LP, offering a newly remastered version of the original album, along with a brand new Steven Wilson stereo mix. SW’s remix doesn’t include the Bill Ward penned-and-sung ‘It’s Alright’, which is included in its original single mono mix. One presumes they couldn’t locate the multi-track from this song.
The third disc in the box offers unheard outtakes and alternate mixes (also remixed by Wilson) while the final CD provides 10 previously unreleased live tracks from concert recordings from the 1976-77 world tour.
Here, remastered, ”Technical Ecstasy” sounds even huger than ever. The Steven Wilson new mix is superb, there’s interesting never heard outtakes, and on the bonus Live World Tour 1976-77 disc, the power of Black Sabbath live is captured in all its steamrolling glory…

BLACK SABBATH – Technical Ecstasy (2021 Remaster)

BLACK SABBATH‘s album ”Technical Ecstasy” will have its Deluxe Edition available on October 1st as a 4-CD set and 5-LP set on 180-gram black vinyl. This fresh 2021 remaster of the original LP will be available as standalone version too.
Black Sabbath embraced change in 1976 when the heavy metal innovators started managing themselves and began exploring different sounds on the band’s seventh studio album, ”Technical Ecstasy”. The record reached #13 in the U.K. and was certified gold in the U.S.
The new songs encompassed a wide range of styles from the hard charging “Back Street Kids” and ballad “It’s Alright,” to the funky “All Moving Parts (Stand Still)” and progressive “Gypsy.” The album also featured the single “It’s Alright,” which was the first Sabbath song to feature lead vocals by Ward.
The Deluxe Edition presents a newly remastered version of the eight-track album using the original analog tapes…

Rhino Records are paying tribute to the patron saints of heavy metal BLACK SABBATH with a collection that includes a newly 2021 remastered version of the original ‘Sabotage‘, album along with a complete live show recorded during the band’s 1975 tour. The super deluxe package will be available as both a 4-CD set and a 4-LP set on 180-gram vinyl, as well as this standalone version.
There’s has been several ‘Sabotage’ remasters in the last two decades, however perhaps this 2021 is the best, with a much more detailed bass lines and cymbals…

HEAVY METAL – Music From The Motion Picture [Vinyl LP reissue] (2017)

After many requests, here’s in exclusive the legendary “HEAVY METAL : Music From The Motion Picture“, in its 2-LP recent release. This is part of the Rhino Records ‘Rocktober’ series, an annual campaign featuring limited edition vinyl releases of classic albums, issued in October, 2017.
The 2-LP release is only available in the U.S. and Canada, already sold out now and very expensive.
‘Heavy Metal’ is a 1981 Canadian-American adult animated sci-fi-fantasy film based in the Heavy Metal Magazine, which was the basis for the film. Like the magazine, the film features a great deal of graphic violence, sexuality, and nudity, censored at various countries.
The movie soundtrack features songs inspired by the story, but most the artists involved aren’t musically ‘heavy metal’ at all. The term is used here into other context.
Musically, “HEAVY METAL : Music From The Motion Picture” offers more than the title suggests, and the songs fit perfectly with their respective film segments. Most songs from the likes of Journey, Cheap Trick, Blue Oyester Club, etc, are exclusive to this soundtrack, some never appeared into any other release, some are different from the originals, noted as ‘Soundtrack Version’.

It’s the one and only R.J.DIO heard clear as never before, and the album, it’s simply one of the best metal LP in history, perhaps the best in BLACK SABBATH’s career.

The first two Ronnie James Dio-fronted BLACK SABBATH albums, 1980’s Heaven and Hell and 1981’s Mob Rules, are receiving deluxe reissues via Rhino Records, expanded with bonus material.
This “Mob Rules [Remastered Deluxe Edition]” 2021 it’s really ‘expanded’, not only with a fresh, crisp remastering job but also juicy bonus tracks like ‘The Mob Rules (Heavy Metal Soundtrack Version)’, or the special version for this release of ‘The Mob Rules (2019 Remix).
We have a lot of live cuts showcasing how powerful this BLACK SABBATH version was – now including skin-hitter Vinny Appice – an entire concert recorded in 1982 in Portland, OR. Highlights include stellar performances of “Neon Knights” “Heaven And Hell” and “Voodoo.”
Dio’s soaring tenor and gothic songwriting were the perfect foil for the band’s bone-crushing mix of razor-sharp riffs, intense grooves, and dark imagery. This was his last album with Sabbath before starting his successful solo career, and what a way to say goodbye; “The Mob Rules” kills.

BLACK SABBATH – Vol.4 [Super Deluxe Edition 4CD / remixes by Steven Wilson] (2021)

The just released “Vol.4 [Super Deluxe Edition 4CD / remixes by Steven Wilson]” is a fantastic glimpse into the studio and onto the stage of BLACK SABBATH’s turning-point classic, remastered with an appropriate excess of extras in a 4-CD pack.
This mega reissue brings together just about all the ”Vol.4” one could ever need. As well as a remaster of the album itself, there are alternate takes of the songs lovingly remixed by Porcupine Tree genius Steven Wilson, studio outtakes, and a live album comprised of recordings from various shows on the band’s 1973 UK tour.
It’s these extras that make this box set worth getting for Sabbath-heads. The Steven Wilson remixes are superb, a collection of alternative versions of the songs that are worth it for the curiosity factor alone.

BLACK SABBATH – Vol. 4 (2021 Remaster)

Perhaps one of the most underrated BLACK SABBATH albums, “Vol. 4“, is getting a fresh remastering this 2021, and will be an expanded, deluxe edition including some unreleased material.
With this new sonic treatment, ”Vol. 4” gets a new, multi-dimensional sound.
On ”Vol 4”, there was a far wider scope to things than on the doomy Paranoid, or the bonged-out Master Of Reality. Songs like ‘Cornucopia’ and ‘Under The Sun’ boasted trademark bottom-end Iommi riffs, but elsewhere there were more twitchy, upbeat moments like the groovy ‘Supernaut’, epic opener ‘Wheels Of Confusion’, and even a piano ballad in ‘Changes’.
But there’s also a shine to everything on ”Vol 4”, an energy that makes ‘Tomorrow’s Dream’ and ‘Snowblind’ arrive far more swaggering and confident than previously. Then Sabbath had been good. Now, they seemed to say, we’re f@cking great, dudes.

BLACK SABBATH (feat Tony Martin) – Vienna 1989 [2xCD Japan release only] (2020) *EXCLUSIVE*

Specialized Japanese label “Alive The Live” is doing a very nice job making available on CD rare live recordings from major acts in a good sound quality. They just released last December this “BLACK SABBATH – Vienna 1989“, a very good performance by Black Sabbath with Tony Martin on vocals, on the ‘Headless Cross Tour’.
It’s especially interesting ‘cos there’s not many recordings documenting Black Sabbath with Tony Martin performing live. Additionally, the line-up is stellar: Neil Murray (bass), Jeff Nichols (keyboards) and the great Cozy Powell (drums).
Tony Martin always was regarded as a stupendous vocalist, but at the time he recorded his first studio album with Sabbath, some critics argued he can’t perform with the same power on stage.
“Vienna 1989” proves that Martin is one Hell of a shouter performing live, and feels…
