SAMMY HAGAR and The Circle – Crazy Times (2022) HQ

Sammy Hagar and his super-group The Circle will release their long-anticipated sophomore album “Crazy Times” next Friday. The new record finds Hagar, fellow Hall Of Famer and VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony, Grammy-winning drummer Jason Bonham and Grammy-winning guitar virtuoso Vic Johnson changing course, traveling to Nashville to record the album with eight-time Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A.
With SAMMY HAGAR and The Circle, nobody expects the guy behind “I Can’t Drive 55″ to get too deep, and he doesn’t. ”Crazy Times”, in a way, is a pandemic album, or at least one informed by living in a time that’s still trying to make sense of the past couple of years. Of course, these “crazy times” stretch back a bit further than COVID, and Hagar addresses that in a roundabout, uncommitted way, too.
Mostly though he plays rock ‘n’ roll that doesn’t sound all that removed from the era that treated him best, the ’80s. And he hasn’t sounded this good since the 20th century ended…

VAN HALEN – OU812 [Japan HDCD Forever Young series remastered] *HQ*

Few rock music listeners know – even some rabid VAN HALEN fans – that the Sammy Hagar-era albums have been remastered as part of the WB Records ‘Forever Young‘ series. These are the only remastered versions available from these albums, and one of you asked to be featured here as all are out of print and hard to find.
Let’s go with “OU812 – Forever Young series remastered“.
All Van Halen albums from the Sammy Hagar-era have that bombastic, glossy ’80s production, but especially on the first two, the bass presence is scarce, typical from the era. On this Japanese remaster you get a higher overall (as it is the norm on most remasters) level, but fortunately not saturated / brick-walled.
The waveforms are ever-so-slightly louder than the original US and Europe CDs, but extremely tasteful. The dynamics of the original recording also appear completely intact.

VAN HALEN – The Super Dome Tokyo ’89 (2022)

The Media Champ bootleg label has just released VAN HALEN‘s “The Super Dome Tokyo ’89“, the concert recorded live at Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan, February 1st, 1989, during the ‘OU 812 Tour 1988-1989’.
This bootleg has surfaced before under different titles, however this new release has been better mixed / mastered and polished. It is a very good multi-track soundboard recording with all instruments / vocals well defined.
At this point in time (1988/89) the Van Halen / Hagar version of the band was already very well oiled and they sound great as a unit. In fact some of the songs here are better version than the ones later appeared into VH first official live album…

SAMMY HAGAR – Live 1980 [Japan HR/HM 1000 Vol.4 series] (2022) HQ

Universal Music Japan has started this year another campaign of their ‘HR/HM 1000‘ series, that meaning the reissue of long time out of print albums from their Hard Rock / Heavy Metal catalog at the price of 1000 Yen = about 9 USD.
As part of the 2022 HR-HM 1000 Vol.4 series there’s the pretty hard to find on CD SAMMY HAGAR album “Live 1980“. A killer recording at the Hammersmith Odeon in London during the tour promoting Hagar’s then-newest album, Danger Zone.
This is an album that almost never was. Captured in 1980, the LP wan’t released until 1983 by Capitol Records after the success of Hagar’s Geffen-era releases, ‘Standing Hampton’ and ‘Three Lock Box’. The Red Rocker and his band sounds raw and pure rocking here, and if live records aren’t your thing you gotta listen to this to appreciate how heavy n’ wild Hagar was on stage in that era…

SAMMY HAGAR – Three Lock Box [Japan SHM-CD remastered Limited Release] HQ

Requested by many, here’s the really good SAMMY HAGAR album “Three Rock Box“, in its pristine Japanese remastered edition pressed on high quality SHM-CD, now out of print.
Sammy Hagar hit a nerve with his previous LP, and this follow-up “Three Lock Box” would prove not only that its predecessor wasn’t a fluke, but that the Red Rocker was in a legitimate groove when the album was released on Nov. 30, 1982.
According to Hagar himself, “Three Lock Box” is one of his favorite solo albums. Working with skilled producer Keith Olsen, this new effort was surrounded by a lush sound design, and collaborations from renowned AOR musicians such as Loverboy’s Mike Reno, Journey’s Jonathan Cain, future Mr. Mister’s Richard Page and Giant’s Alan Pasqua, among others.

VAN HALEN – Live… ’92 [Alive The Live Japan release] *0dayrox Exclusive*

Only released in Japan by ‘Alive The Live’ specialized label, ”Live… ’92” captures VAN HALEN at the Selland Arena, Fresno CA, during the US tour in support of their chart-topping For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge album.
At the time, and with almost 2 decades as a band, VAN HALEN didn’t had yet an official live album. Here they took the best of the two Selland Arena shows and agreed to broadcast on the radio.
Next year VAN HALEN would release their official live album “Live: Right Here, Right Now” containing almost the same track list, but many fans think that album doesn’t make justice to VH preforming live, it feels a bit cold.
On this ”Live… ’92” the band is hot and having a good time, and while sound quality isn’t as clear and polished as on “Live: Right Here, Right Now” (with its studio overdubs) it’s good enough to enjoy the whole thing, with Eddie’s guitar much more upfront in the mix.

SAMMY HAGAR – Standing Hampton [Japan SHM-CD remastered Ltd Release] HQ

Requested by one of you, here’s “Standing Hampton“, another SAMMY HAGAR album in its pristine Japanese remastered edition pressed on high quality SHM-CD, now out of print.
“Standing Hampton” is Hagar’s first album for Geffen Records, and some kind of breakthrough for his solo career achieving RIAA certification eventually going platinum, and five of its singles charted in either the mainstream rock or pop singles charts.
Produced by expert Keith Olsen, the first half of “Standing Hampton” is an incredible 21 minutes of rock and roll to feed both your brain and your adrenaline.
Here’s “There’s Only One Way to Rock”, who went on to be one of Hagar’s biggest solo hits and a signature…

VAN HALEN – 5150 [Japan remastered Forever Young series HDCD] lossless

Few people know – even some rabid VAN HALEN fans – that the Sammy Hagar-era albums have been remastered as part of the Japan WB Records ‘Forever Young’ series. These are the only remastered versions available of these albums, and many of you asked for ’em over and over again, so here’s the blast “5150 – Forever Young series remastered“.
All Van Halen albums from the Sammy Hagar-era have that bombastic, glossy ’80s production, but especially on the first two, the bass presence is scarce, typical from the era. On this Japanese remaster you get…

VAN HALEN – For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge [Japan edition remastered – Forever Young series] Out Of Print

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of VAN HALEN‘s “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge“, perhaps the most complete (and best) album from the Hagar era. Few people know – even some rabid VAN HALEN fans – that the Sammy Hagar-era albums have been remastered as part of the WB Records Japan ‘Forever Young’ series. These are the only remastered versions available of these albums.
All Van Halen albums from the Sammy Hagar-era have that bombastic, glossy ’80s production, but especially on the first two, the bass presence is scarce, typical from the era.
“For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge” production is more punchy on the low frequencies, but still a bass level up is needed on the original CD transfers / pressings. On this Japanese remaster you get a higher overall (as it is the norm on most remasters) level, but fortunately not saturated / brickwalled. The waveforms are…

HEAVY METAL – Music From The Motion Picture [Vinyl LP reissue] (2017)

After many requests, here’s in exclusive the legendary “HEAVY METAL : Music From The Motion Picture“, in its 2-LP recent release. This is part of the Rhino Records ‘Rocktober’ series, an annual campaign featuring limited edition vinyl releases of classic albums, issued in October, 2017.
The 2-LP release is only available in the U.S. and Canada, already sold out now and very expensive.
‘Heavy Metal’ is a 1981 Canadian-American adult animated sci-fi-fantasy film based in the Heavy Metal Magazine, which was the basis for the film. Like the magazine, the film features a great deal of graphic violence, sexuality, and nudity, censored at various countries.
The movie soundtrack features songs inspired by the story, but most the artists involved aren’t musically ‘heavy metal’ at all. The term is used here into other context.
Musically, “HEAVY METAL : Music From The Motion Picture” offers more than the title suggests, and the songs fit perfectly with their respective film segments. Most songs from the likes of Journey, Cheap Trick, Blue Oyester Club, etc, are exclusive to this soundtrack, some never appeared into any other release, some are different from the originals, noted as ‘Soundtrack Version’.

SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE – Lockdown 2020 (2021)

“When we’re on tour, these are the songs we’ve been jamming to backstage for years. Before we go on stage, we warm up for about an hour playing everything from James Brown and AC/DC to the Bee Gees, The Who and David Bowie… you name it. So until we can get back to our live shows, these Lockdown Sessions are a great way to keep the band close and our chops up” – said Sammy Hagar about the new, upcoming album “Lockdown 2020” from SAMMY HAGAR & THE CIRCLE.
”Lockdown 2020” features updates of songs from Van Halen, including “Right Now,” “Good Enough” and “Don’t Tell Me (What Love Can Do)”; as well as Hagar’s “Sympathy for the Human”; the Who’s “Won’t Get Fooled Again”; AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie” and more…
