WHITE LION – Anthology ’83 – ’89 [Compiled by Mike Tramp] (2021)

Deadline / CleoRecs in conjunction to WHITE LION frontman Mike Tramp has released Anthology ’83 – ’89, a selection of very early recordings by the band compiled by Tramp himself and remastered to get the best quality audio possible – and the overall results are very good.
Among the highlights there’s original versions of “Wait,” “When The Children Cry” and “Lady Of The Valley” which were later re-recorded for the band’s monster major label debut ‘Pride’. We find as well rare, high quality studio demos of tracks from ‘Mane Attraction’ and ‘Big Game’, including songs that didn’t make the final cut of those albums.
What we have here is a comprehensive set of demos, alternate versions and unreleased tracks put together by Mike Tramp. That might put a few people off, but trust me, this is an essential purchase for the White Lion fan.
First, the sound quality of these songs is very good, and second hearing these early versions and comparing them to the definitive is more than just interesting. The songs differ enough to stand on their own and in many cases are much heavier than the ones that ended up being released…

Celebrating 25 years as a solo artist former WHITE LION and FREAK OF NATURE singer MIKE TRAMP released his first best-of album: “Trampthology“, only available on physical format 2-CD/LP.
Released for Christmas at the very end last year, “Trampthology” is a very special treat for all fans of Tramp, with 16 of the biggest hits from his amazing solo career, plus four brand new songs.
Of course for fans of Mike’s the solo material is only part of the history and whilst there have been exhaustive collections before both of Freak of Nature and White Lion there’s not really been one that concentrated on the solo material except the ‘This & That’ box set released a few years back in 2017 which was more an exhaustive collection of demos.
Here we get the cream of Tramp’s recorded works and a choice too with the release coming both on double gatefold 180g vinyl and double CD…

WHITE LION – All You Need Is Rock N’ Roll : The Complete Albums 1985-1991 [HNE 5xCD Box set remastered] (2020)

Cherry Red / Hear No Evil Records just released “All You Need Is Rock N’ Roll : The Complete Albums 1985-1991” a 5xCD Box set including all the first WHITE LION albums.
Sure, perhaps you already have other releases; the Rock Candy, Japan edition, etc, however this Box Set is an excellent value for money; a 5-disc box set perfectly remastered by the very busy Andy Pierce. And all for the price of 1 and a half CD.
Discs 1-4 cover the first 4 albums, the superb debut ‘Fight To Survive’ (1985) and the 3 that followed on the Atlantic label, ‘Pride’ (1987), ‘Big Game’ (1989) and the vastly under rated ‘Mane Attraction’ (1991), all with bonus material.
Disc 5 is the Live recording from The Ritz, New York 1988, a really good performance topped up with a few rehearsals as bonus tracks.
