STARSHIP feat. Mickey Thomas – Greatest Hits Relaunched (2021)

Cleopatra Records is releasing on CD & Vinyl STARSHIP‘s ”Greatest Hits Relaunched”, a collection of recordings from the current version of the band fronted by Mickey Thomas. All the ’80s biggest hits from the band like “Sara,” “It’s Not Over (‘Til It’s Over)”, “We Built This City”, “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” and more have been re-recorded for this release, plus covers of Journey’s classic “Don’t Stop Believin’” and Kansas’ “Carry On My Wayward Son”.
Sometimes is risky when you re-record classic songs, but here results are successful for two reasons: first, Mickey Thomas always will be THE singer of STARSHIP (at least their lovely ’80s period), and second, the band has added a new ‘punch’ to these songs, an updated ‘melodic-rocking’ feeling in arrangements and performances.
I’m not sure about their version of ‘Carry On My Wayward Son’, but Mickey sounds great doing ‘Don’t Stop Believin’. As a whole, ”Greatest Hits Relaunched” is pleasant way yo re-discover this timeless songs, and to hear Mickey Thomas recording again…

STARSHIP – Playlist; The Very Best Of Starship [Remastered +2 Unreleased] *0dayrox Exclusive*

The “Playlist ; The Very Best Of” Sony Music series were very nice compilations where you are able to find the band in question best songs. The good thing about these ‘Playlist’ CD’s is that in some cases, all the material was specially remastered for this specific release.
Playlist; The Very Best Of Starship” is even more interesting, because includes 2 previously unreleased Starship songs, the very catchy ‘Keys To The City’ and the smooth ‘Karma (Everything You Do)’, both exclusive to this release.
While there’s some Starship ‘best of’ releases already, we think ”Playlist; The Very Best Of Starship” is the best of all, not only for the collectible unreleased tracks, but also for containing their best songs with an excellent remastered sound.
Out of print and very hard to find CD…

STARSHIP – Love Among The Cannibals [Friday Music Remaster] out of print

This Friday Music Records release of STARSHIP‘s “No Protection / Love Among The Cannibals” double CD including both albums in remastered form was repeatedly requested here. Let’s go with the great “Love Among The Cannibals“.
“Love Among The Cannibals” always has been to me some kind of ‘Starship goes Def Leppard’. Yeah, the ton of sound layers, the huge choruses and ‘that’ drums bring to mind here Def Lepp’s Hysteria album. Perhaps ‘Mutt’ Lange did more than just arrange and contributing backing vocals here?
Anyway, it was 1989, and you can expect this kind of bombastic production. And I love it…
