SHA-BOOM – The Race Is On (re-mixed by Tommy Denander) HQ *Exclusive*

Norwegians SHA-BOOM become a sensation in Scandinavia at the end of the Eighties / early Nineties with their mixture of poppy radio-rock and commercial AOR. They returned in 2005 with only original member Dag Finn at the helm (even though ex- bassist Peo Thyren has helped out with some lyrics) and Tommy Denander as partner in crime. The result was “The Race Is On“, a celebration of feel-good Melodic Rock and sing-along tunes. This is the 2012 re-release slightly re-mixed.
Dag Finn assembled a cast of excellent players for this album who need no introduction to those who follow the Swedish scene – including Kee Marcello, the late Marcel Jacob (TALISMAN), Dan Helgesen (PHENOMENA, SALUTE), Daniel Flores (ALFONZETTI, FROZEN RAIN), all EUROPE members, and more… check out the awesome personnel below. No doubt Tommy Denander’s contacts enabled this new effort to have a record label behind it. Denander himself play guitar & keyboards.

EUROPE – Best of Europe [Japanese Limited BEST 1000 series] (2020) *Exclusive*

Some time ago Sony Music Japan started a new Limited BEST 1000 reissue series from ’80s artists from their catalog at the affordable price of 1000 Yen (around U$S 9).
These series are available for a limited period intended for the Asian market only – song titles are in Japanese. You can order the CD’s overseas anyway, but being a Limited Edition, all turn out of print soon because of being high quality discs / 24bit transfers at a very cheap tag price. This “Best of Europe” was released for 2019’s Christmas (December 25), and it’s already out of print.
Sure, you have all EUROPE albums already, perhaps a ‘best of’ too, but this Japanese CD sounds so darn good!

KEE MARCELLO – Redux : Europe

Kjell Hilding Lövbom, most known as KEE MARCELLO, the guitarist who replaced John Norum in the Swedish band Europe back in 1986, released in Sweden “Redux : Europe“, featuring own new tracks alongside modern, harder-sounding re-recordings of Europe and Marcello’s previous band Easy Action hits – all sung by himself.
When asked why he chose to re-record Europe songs, Marcello said, ” *Redux* is Latin for ‘reclaim’ or ‘take back,’ and that’s what I’m doing here. These songs are part of my past and I wanted to bring them into the future.”

Guitarist JOHN NORUM left Europe in 1986 at the very height of their popularity, and soon after released his first solo album, “Total Control“, now wonderfully remastered by Rock Candy Records with the addition of 6 bonus tracks.
Recruiting a new backing band of long-time musical friends (including Marcel Jacob, a former Europe member on bass) and Göran Edman for lead vocals, “Total Control” mix Europe’s melodic side with an edgy, guitar driven hard rock sound.
This remaster is terrific, and the bonus track real pearls; the live version of Thin Lizzy’s ‘Bad Reputation’ worth this CD alone.

As part of the Rock Candy Records remastered reissue of Europe guitarist JOHN NORUM solo albums, here’s in exclusive his third, “Another Destination“.
Norum again shows exquisite taste in his choice of vocalist. Kelly Keeling, originally of Baton Rouge, then later with MSG, King Kobra, George Lynch and others came in for this one, and shared several writing credits with Norum.
The remastering here is almost breathtaking. From the first track, the band are in the room. Classy and classic. You don’t listen, you wade through it.

JOHN NORUM – Face The Truth [Rock Candy Remastered & Reloaded] (2020) the Real one, avoid fakes *EXCLUSIVE*

Europe’s guitarist JOHN NORUM first three solo albums have been remastered by Rock Candy specialists. The sound quality on “Face The Truth” has been really improved here, more defined and detailed.
Comparing this album to Norum’s debut Total Control, this second LP sounds much more Americanized, still intense, refreshing and with a classic hard rock feel.
The line up is completely different as well: The Voice of Rock Glenn Hughes is on lead vocals, and Peter Baltes (Accept and Don Dokken) hits the bass, while Joey Tempest guest lead vocals on one song. How can you be wrong with these?

Cherry Red / Lemon Records has just re-pressed 2020 their out of print remastered version of EUROPE‘s “Wings Of Tomorrow“, the Swedes second album and a major stepping stone on the way to worldwide fame with ‘The Final Countdown’.
Remastered by FFG Studios specialists with extensive sleeve-notes by Bill Leslie of ‘Rock Of Ages’ and period photographs / memorabilia, the sound quality is warmer that the Japanese Blu-Spec CD2 remaster, more guitar lively I’d say.
Features the original version of the hit single ‘Open Your Heart’ as well as further single releases ‘Stormwind’, ‘Dreamer’ and ‘Lyin’ Eyes’.
“Wings Of Tomorrow” is the album that convinced CBS to sign them on a worldwide deal.
