BRIAN MAY – Another World (Deluxe Edition) [Japan 2 x SHM-CD] (2022)

BRIAN MAY‘s very good – and very underrated – second solo album, 1998’s ”Another World”, will be reissued next April 22 as part of the ongoing Brian May Gold Series, a Deluxe Edition with the album remastered and ‘Another Disc’ bonus disc including really juicy material that worth the purchase alone. We have to review the Japanese SHM-CD pressing (thanx to S.B.)
Say Brian; “This, dear Listener, is the second release in my “Brian May Gold Series” reissues. To this album, historically my second solo record, we’ve applied the same loving care that we lavished on ‘Back to the Light’ – repolishing and remastering but using the exact original mixes. Originally delivered 24 years ago, ‘Another World’ is now reborn just as it was originally created.”
The 15-track bonus disc (dubbed ‘Another Disc’) offers various remixes, rarities, original Japanese bonus tracks, live tracks and actually opens with Brian speaking a tribute to drummer Cozy Powell (recorded in ’98) who features on this album, but sadly died in a car crash before it was released.

Like his Queen bandmates, ROGER TAYLOR has rarely flourished outside the mothership. While his band The Cross produced very good music and his clutch of solo albums had their moments, he wisely seemed to save his best work for the group.
Now comes his latest solo album, ”Outsider”, and it’s fair to say that expectations could be higher. Perhaps they should have been, for at the age of 72 Taylor has turned in the best solo effort of his life by whatever a country mile is.
As ever on his solo records, Taylor plays almost everything himself – drums, of course, but also guitar and most of the keyboards – but he’s in cahoots with Joshua J Macrae, his long-standing collaborator from The Cross…

Since their first appearance together in 2009 when Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared as guests on the finale of the eighth season of American Idol on which Adam Lambert was a contestant, the combination of QUEEN + Adam Lambert has gone from strength to strength becoming one of the world’s biggest drawing touring bands.
As hinted at in interviews with the band, Queen + Adam Lambert confirmed the release their first-ever live album: ‘QUEEN + Adam Lambert : Live Around The World’. The set presents a compilation of concert highlights captured the world over personally selected by Taylor, May and Lambert from over 200 shows they have performed with several featured becoming available for the very first time.
As extra, we have the studio single ‘You Are The Champions’, recorded & released in support of the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
