JANI LANE – Jabberwocky [the unreleased ’93 album] (1st Gen source) *0dayrox Exclusive*

As requested, here’s the unreleased album the late Warrant front man JANI LANE recorded in 1993; “Jabberwocky“. There has been a lot of bootlegs of these recordings – some also pressed on CD and sold at eBay, hence around 2004-2005 Lane decided to finally properly release that shelved tapes.
However a record deal appeared but asking for fresh, more contemporary rock, and the result was Jani’s first solo record ‘Back Down To One’, with a much more modern sound.
The songs on “Jabberwocky” are very early ’90s, quite acoustically driven – even the uptempo – something in vogue at the time with Mr. Big and Tesla successful acoustical albums. All are wonderfully melodic tunes, ‘very Jani Lane’.
This is a copy taken from a 1st Generation tape personally given by a friend of Jani to a 0dayrox team member many years ago, after he confirmed that Lane definitely shelved the entire project. The sound quality is much better that the bootlegs floating the web. And we have some new songs recorded 2004-2005, new material Jani Lane wrote for the inclusion into “Jabberwocky”.
Other sites just copy/paste or promises what doesn’t have … only 0dayrox brings to you really exclusive collectibles.

HEAT [Female Fronted] – Heat (1993) out of print

As requested, here’s the hard to find ($ 200 for a used copy) of the cult classic female fronted Melodic Rock / AOR self-titled album of HEAT. This German outfit won a Rock contest in 1992 and the prize was an album release.
The 11 songs on offer musically delivers smooth, refined Melodic Rock in the style of WITNESS or HEART, that meaning a strong American influence, but also European similar to Gudrun LAOs more AORish side.
Singer Elke Klein does an excellent job dropping sensual vocals all over really good songs, among the best “Crying”, “Never Say No”, “What About Love” and “Raise Your Hands” worth to mention.
This “Heat” album is a wonderful piece of classic Female Melodic Rock, much sought after today and crying for a reissue…

ATOMIC ANGEL – Atomic Angel [12-track bootleg] Rare Albums

It has been requested here the only full album from American classic hard rockers ATOMIC ANGEL. Fronted by the sexy and capable female singer Randi Ridout, ATOMIC ANGEL were very close to secure a deal with a major label, unfortunately in the Nineties the rock scene was already changing and that never happened. A real shame, as ATOMIC ANGEL got the chops, the looks, varied songwriting, and potential radio success.
However ATOMIC ANGEL managed to release their private recording “Atomic Angel” in 1993, originally intended for cassette only but also there were limited CD pressings. Production is good but the transfer to CD a bit tiny though.
Being an indie release the album became very hard to find with used copies over $100 at eBay, until it was bootlegged not so long ago… and surprise, the sound quality is far superior than the original release, fuller. Additionally, as bonus, it’s included ATOMIC ANGEL’s 4-track demo from 1995.
A rocking female fronted album which will please ’80s Jackie Bodimead, Heart, Laos, etc, fans out there, hooky tunes with a twist that make ’em special.

PRICE-SULTON – Lights On [Japan CD] (1986) Rare Albums

As requested, here’s the rare Japanese CD edition of PRICE-SULTON 1986’s album “Lights On“. This was the project of North American songwriters / session musicians Thommy Price (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Blue Öyster Cult, Billy Idol) and Kasim Sulton (The New Cars, Utopia), both having contributed songs for other recording artists, performed on several major productions, involved in Hollywood movie soundtracks, etc.
Their work together ended into this 10-track album released by a major label CBS but as happened with many artists, suffered of distribution troubles. ”Lights On” found its way into the Japanese market, the only country to be pressed on CD.
This is more than a rare CD, but a collection of wonderful mid-Eighties radio-ready tunes with that classic US / Canadian sound ranging from Lite AOR to mainstream rock&pop. The list of musicians involved (check below) is impressive.

THE SCREAM – Takin’ It To The Next Level [unreleased 2nd album] (1993) *0dayrox Exclusive*

Founded by guitarist Bruce Bouillet, bass player John Alderete and vocalist John Corabi, short-lived band THE SCREAM was a great band for sure plenty of groove, energy, soul and heavy guitars. When Corabi was asked to replace Vince Neil in Motley Crue, they hooked up with another equally as scary vocalist Billy Fogarty and recorded “Takin’ It To The Next Level” which, unfortunately, never got released because of a few Spinal Tap-ish record industry moves.
It was 1993, and the music style into “Takin’ It To The Next Level” wasn’t the hot cake anymore. Additionally, on this record THE SCREAM experimented a little with other sounds as well, like funk, rap-metal, etc, mixed with their traditional hard rock style.
“Takin’ It To The Next Level” is professionally recorded & produced album, and while there’s copies circulating among fans and collectors, our sounds better and includes extra tracks.

LOST JOHNNY – Hidden Measures… And 1/2 Truths (1995) Rare Albums

Now it’s time for this requested, quite hard to find album from Canadians LOST JOHNNY, “Hidden Measures… And 1/2 Truths“. Originally released in 1995 by a small label, the CD has become a collector’s piece since.
LOST JOHNNY was formed in the second half of the ’80s, with some members having worked as session musicians. Their music & style was American glam metal / melodic hard rock with a late ’80s sound.
In fact, all these songs were written / recorded 1991-1993, but not released until 1995 when this type of music was buried by depressive rock.
It doesn’t matters; LOST JOHNNY’s songa are awesome, and production top notch, like any major label release fro mthe golden era. And musically – and quality wise – they easily can be compared with Warrant, XYZ, Dokken, Trixter, etc…

SHANGHAI’D GUTS – Life Ain’t Nothing But A Joke (1995) Rare Albums

Now here’s a requested rarity – a not so easy to find CD – 1995’s “Life Ain’t Nothing But A Joke“, the last album from Germany hard rockers SHANGHAI’D GUTS. While this five-piece started operations in the ’80s playing a sleaze / glammy influenced brand of hard rock, for this album the guys changed a little in favor to a more classic rock affair.
“Life Ain’t Nothing But A Joke” is driven traditional guitar riffs, but the band not only added classic Hammond B3 organ to their sound, also a bluesy background. You find songs influenced by Jimmy Page solo material, The Quireboys, Mott, Black Crowes, some ’80s Rolling Stones, etc.
The interesting thing about “Life Ain’t Nothing But A Joke” – apart of the good songwriting and musicianship – is the different approach than the aforementioned bands in terms of production / mix. SHANGHAI’D GUTS use defined pan/stereo tracking for the guitar layers, the vocal harmonies, even on one song the drums are only heard in one side channel.
Quite rare and good stuff – Highly Recommended

DAVE WHITNEY (Devils In Heaven) – Heart, Mind and Soul (1993) Rare Album

Devils In Heaven were one of the finest Australian rock bands who never released a full length album – only a couple of EP’s. This 2021 finally AOR Heaven Records put out ‘Rise’, a compilation of these 2 EP’s plus the unreleased material the group recorded until disbanded in the mid-90s.
However, in the meantime, Devils In Heaven’s lead singer & songwriter DAVE WHITNEY released a solo album in 1993, including songs he recorded between the late Eighties / early Nineties, a private release pressed in limited quantities.
As requested, here’s the rare ”Heart, Mind and Soul”, DAVE WHITNEY’s CD including a varied set of songs not only in Devils In Heaven’s melodic rock style, but also lite AOR, rock&pop, and more.
Thanks to ‘Gumbo’ for this pristine CDrip…

CHERRY St. – Squeeze It Dry (1993) Rare Album

And here’s another request, “Squeeze It Dry” the 1993 quite rare CD from L.A. glam-hard rockers CHERRY St., also known as Cherry Street. While released too late for this genre via a small record label, the CD was manufactured & distributed by major BMG, with tracks produced by Erik Turner (Warrant) and Tommy Thayer (Kiss, Black N’ Blue), mastered & mixed by Pat Regan (Mr. Big) – who also produced some songs – so expect a very good sound here.
CHERRY St. vocalist Roxy Dahl (later known as Chris VanDahl) sang on the group’s American Hardcore album, so we are talking about competent personnel here for classic US glammy hard rock with catchy choruses.
Formed in the ’80s CHERRY St. could openly boast that the band’s ever changing line-up had been quite a Who’s Who of L.A. Glam. They probably also hold the title for the most outrageous collective hairstyles ever seen on a rock n’ roll band…

CHAIN (Doogie White) – Eros Of Love And Destruction [Japan only release]

Many of you requested some material from gifted Scottish vocalist Doogie White, so here’s the hard to find, only released in Japan sole album from short-lived band CHAIN. While finally released at the end of the Nineties, the CD titled “Eros Of Love And Destruction” was written & recorded in the very early 1990’s.
Doggie recorded a really good album with melodic hard rockers MIDNIGHT BLUE, and with the keyboardist of that band Jem Davis (also ex- TOBRUK, UFO), both joined Yorkshire guitarist Ashley Limer (ex- VANDAMNE and also KICK) for this new project; CHAIN.
The focus was put into a more groovy, classic hard rock direction with the late ’80s / early ’90s sound, and the result is some kind of mix between American-era WHITESNAKE, early Mr. BIG, THUNDER, etc.
While a couple of labels were interested at the time, most CHAIN members opted to join other acts and the recording shelved, until several years after due to Doogie White’s rising popularity in Asia, JVC Victor Co. finally released the CD…

AUTOMATIC FIRE (ex Silvertide) – Automatic Fire! + No Decoy (out of print)

In between SILVERTIDE and SINAI, in 2009 vocalist Walt Lafty and bassist Brian Weaver of Silvertide started a new band called AUTOMATIC FIRE with guitarist Evil Rob from the band Peppers Ghost alongside drummer Brian Kilian from the Dave Pittinger Band.
A band where it’s singer out right told a major record label executive that “He needs to listen and not write down notes. If you need a note pad for music then you’re not listening at all”, showcased Lafty’s big middle finger to the industry, and AUTOMATIC FIRE managed by themselves releasing their first EP “Automatic Fire!” in 2009.
In early 2010, AUTOMATIC FIRE released a second EP titled ”No Decoy”. The album featured a song titled “What Are You Made Of?”, which SILVERTIDE had performed at some of their final shows in 2008.
Musically more modern and aggressive than SILVERTIDE, both AUTOMATIC FIRE EP’s became cult collector’s pieces. This is modern rock, but intelligent guitar-driven modern rock with essence and melody.
Rare.

SINAI (ex Silvertide) – A Pinch Of Chaos (2012) rare album / out of print

Comprised of lead singer Walt Lafty, lead guitarist & bassist Nick Perri, and drummer Shane Rozum, SINAI formed in 2010 marking the professional reunion of Perri and Lafty after a nearly five-year hiatus from their previous, celebrated band, SILVERTIDE.
SINAI spent over a year writing and recording music, and in February 2012, announced a full length album was finally on the way. The record, entitled “A Pinch of Chaos“, was released on April 1 as a limited edition hard copy and then worldwide via digital download, but soon it was retired from iTunes, Amazon, etc, nor available at the band’s website.
As requested, here’s this rare, hard to find CD…

WINGER – Seventeen The Demos [300 hand numbered limited edition]

Here’s the requested, rare 300 hand-numbered limited edition red vinyl of WINGER ‘s “Seventeen The Demos“, released some time ago by Cleopatra Records, now a collectible and of course out of print. This is an official release, but there isn’t a regular cardboard cover with this, just a paper sleeve and a insert in a plastic sheet sleeve. Also included is a patch and a pin / button.
These excellent 16-track professional demos were released in other formats but sonically pretty brick-walled / saturated. However the mastering for this LP pressing is different, much better.
Musically, these are top notch melodic rock / AOR classics, original versions of ‘Can’t Get Enuff’, ‘Easy Come Easy Go’, ‘Seventeen’, ‘Headed for a Heartbreak’, etc.

TRACER – Screamer In The Night [recorded 1990 / remastered 2021]

Originally released in 1990 on cassette format only, now 2021 TRACER’s cult album ”Screamer In The Night” is being reissued remastered from best possible sources. TRACER first would begin to come together in 1985 when guitarist Kenny Carpenter put together a cover band called ACES WILD. Towards the end of the year the band were already writing their own material and changed their name to TRACER.
While this album was recorded 1990, the style & sound makes you think 1983: ”Screamer In The Night” mixes hard rockin’ stuff akin STEELER or LEATHERWOLF with Pomp / analog synth driven songs ala NEW ENGLAND, ANGEL, TOBRUK, etc.
In fact, only the title track – included into some ‘unsigned bands’ compilation albums back in the day – is quite hard rock / metal, the rest of the album is much more melodic and plenty of vintage synth runs…

MITCH PERRY (Badd Boyz) – Better Late Than Never (1998) [rare albums]

Between stints playing with such legends as Michael Schenker and Billy Sheehan, guitarist MITCH PERRY was involved with two bands that never got a fair chance to fulfill their potential: 7% SOLUTION and BADD BOYZ.
These recordings were finally released on this album titled “Better Late Than Never“, now out of print with copies being sold for over U$D 250. Here we can listen to these lost songs and guess what might have been had fate decided differently.
7% SOLUTION has lead vocals from Ralph Saenz (L.A. Guns) and drums by Paul Monroe (XYZ) while BADD BOYZ features ex Rough Cutt Paul Shortino, and joining Perry on both recordings there’s bass player Sean Mcnabb (Great White, Dokken).
Musically it’s a mix ’80s glam metal with melodic hard rock, catchy, hooky, plenty of quality songwriting and performances. A really good shot from the unrepeatable Eighties L.A. scene…
