TYKETTO – Shine [Japanese edition remastered] *Rare* **HQ exclusive**

Here’s another request: the only available remastered version of TYKETTO‘s third album, the underrated “Shine” featuring ex- Tall Stories and future Journey lead vocalist Steve Augeri.
This is the Japanese edition appeared a year after the European, and it was tweaked with a ’90s-type’ of remastering, which works great. A quite rare CD pressing nowadays
By the first half of the Nineties, Melodic Rock was out of fashion, especially in America. But Tyketto, without a recording label and all, continued as band. However Danny Vaughn had to take care of his ailing wife, and by the end of 1994 left the band.
The rest of the boys recruited Steve Augeri (from the AOR outfit Tall Stories) to fill Danny’s shoes and “Shine” (1995) was the result (Steve would later fill the void of Steve Perry in Journey for several years).
“Shine” is a stupendous album, and what I like the most of is that Tyketto don’t want to sound like ‘Tyketto-Vaughn’. And Augeri shows his credentials with tons of personality.
The album indeed ‘Shine’ taking the listener to sunny, boisterous vista, combining compositions slashed and liberated by surgical steel power chords, with softer, heartening moments built of clear acoustic guitar for miles, all produced crisp perfection…

WAYSTED Save Your Prayers +3 [Cherry Red / Hear No Evil remaster]

With the just released WAYSTED box-set some of you asked for the also Cherry Red Records / Hear No Evil remastered release of the band’s more Melodic Hard Rock oriented album, the pretty awesome “Save Your Prayers“, including as bonus tracks 3 hard to find singles for the first time on CD.
Pete Way was the original bass guitarist and founder member of British hard rockers UFO. In 1982, after making 10 studio LPs with them, Pete left, initially to play bass with Ozzy Osbourne as well as briefly forming Fastway with Motorhead’s Fast Eddie Clarke.
Then in 1983 he formed Waysted. After releasing their debut album ‘Vices’ in 1983 on Chrysalis, before switching to Music For Nations for the release of ‘Waysted’ (1984) and ‘The Good The Bad And The Waysted’ (1985), the band signed to EMI / Parlophone label in 1985 for this “Save Your Prayers“ LP.
It was the mid-Eighties and the recording label wanted a more commercial, catchy musical approach according to times to appeal the US market…

TYKETTO – We’ve Got Tomorrow We’ve Got Tonight +1

While TYKETTO recorded some live material in the past, most of these were acoustic. Original members Danny Vaughn (lead vocals) and Michael Clayton (drums) wanted to do something for the TYKETTO legacy.
They got backing vocalists, a horn section and a string section and they ended having a 14-piece band to record “We’ve Got Tomorrow We’ve Got Tonight +1“, a CD / DVD recorded live into the studio. In June 2018, they headed off to the lovely town of Pontypridd, Wales, to produce this very special concert and live video event. The goal was to mix things up with radically different versions of your favorite Tyketto tunes that span their entire career.
And TYKETTO delivers a stupendous set with emotional performances. It’s captured live however the result sound is studio quality, with Vaughn vocals in pristine form. “We’ve Got Tomorrow We’ve Got Tonight +1” is like a complete circle, as there’s as well the very first recording / demo of their classic “Forever Young”.
