THAYER-St. JAMES – The Lost Tapes (2022) *HQ 0dayrox Exclusive*

Black ‘N Blue frontman Jaime St. JAMES, and his former Black ‘N Blue bandmate and current KISS guitarist Tommy THAYER, have found some old songs that they wrote together decades ago, recorded in the late ’80s, but never released.
Now these tracks are being released by themselves as “THAYER-St. JAMES ; The Lost Tapes“.
The songs present on ”The Lost Tapes” were produced by skilled Pat Reagan and recorded in 1988 with the help of Gene Simmons after Geffen Records dropped Black ‘N Blue. Simmons Records agreed to release the new Black ‘N Blue album, but soon after the studio time Thayer quit the band eager to do other things.
The recorded songs were saved for more than 30 years on 2” analog multitrack tape and two track mixes on 1/4” tape, but were unfortunately disintegrated beyond use. After some digging, they found a DAT tape with a copy.
This is a Limited Edition physical CD only personally autographed by Tommy & Jaime, and while it isn’t cheap (sells for $30 USD + $10 shipping and handling for orders within the US, and $30 USD + $20 for international orders) this is a collectible which soon will became a rarity, and worth every cent – these songs rock greatly.
These recordings were almost lost forever – now thanks to a bit of digital polishing, these songs have come to life!

STEELOVER – May God Be With You [2nd Unreleased Album] (1986)

Melodic Hard Rockers STEELOVER are back in business next Friday, August 26, with a new album, their first since their debut LP in 1984. We featured both here at 0dayrox, however the group recorded an album in 1985-1986 which was intended to be the follow up of debut ‘Glove Me’. And it really worth a listen.
After enjoying considerable success with their well received debut record, touring all over Europe and performing in festivals, lead singer Vince Castillo decided to pursue a solo career.
Drummer Rudy Lenners (ex Scorpions) suggested to replace Vince with a female vocalist, and give the band a fresh push. Enter future Vaya Con Dios singer Dani Klein and they stated to work on new songs.
With a female-fronted melodic hard rock style typically mid-Eighties and a slightly ‘Americanized’ sound, STEELOVER recorded the pre-production demos for the upcoming second LP “May God Be With You“. However, Klein leave the band soon after and the album never recorded, with these songs remaining unreleased.
The recording / sound quality of these pre-production tapes are pretty good, also the songs, all well written rockers with melodic guitars and strong female vocals…

SAFE HAVEN – Savage Harvest [unreleased ’90s recordings remastered] (2021)

The Nineties wasn’t easy in the USA for bands playing traditional metal / hard rock but still existed an underground scene keeping the flame alive. That was the case of SAFE HAVEN, a band from Connecticut formed by very young musicians which didn’t care about trends.
SAFE HAVEN born back in 1990 and made two official releases: the “Cries of Mercy” single which was released on tape in 1993 including the same titled six-minute-long epic, and the “Savage Harvest” EP released in 1995. In both the band presents a mixture of classic melodic metal, hard rock, and progressive.
Their enigmatic melodies, the clean vocal approach and the complex yet catchy riffing brings to mind the likes of FATES WARNING, early QUEENSRYCHE, DOKKEN, SHOK PARIS, etc.
Now all SAFE HAVEN recordings including unreleased songs are being released into CD as ”Savage Harvest”, digitally remastered to get the best audio quality possible…

WINGER – The Non Album Tracks & Unreleased (0dayrox rarities compilation)

There’s not much WINGER unreleased material, as the band released some time ago the excellent double album Demo Collection. But these were mostly pre-production demos, high quality professional demos prior to their first album.
As requested, here’s the 0dayrox compilation of rare WINGER – “The Non Album Tracks & Unreleased” – including they well known film soundtrack contributions, but also unpublished, rare songs.
While sound quality isn’t as great on the Demo Collection, it’s pretty good overall. What we find here are the very early demos by the band, and some tracks never released, a couple of acoustic takes. All songs here are WINGER the band, not Kip Winger solo.

It’s hard to find a current rock musician with a body of work as large as veteran JEFF SCOTT SOTO, with over 60 albums under his belt while participating in Sons Of Apollo, Talisman, Soto, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, WET, just to name a few.

MICHAEL BOLTON – AOR Provider [The Unreleased ’80s Album / Remastered Demos] 0dayrox Exclusive

Michael Bolotin, later known as MICHAEL BOLTON, softened his style in favor to commercial pop at the end of the Eighties, but the man has a rock n’ roll background. Under his real name he did two forgettable records in the Seventies, but at the beginning of the ’80s Bolton was part of Blackjack (with Bruce Kulick), a noteworthy melodic rock ensemble.
Later Bolton released 3 great AOR solo albums, but between these solo LP’s he recorded a series of demos helped by renowned session musicians, including Neal Schon & Jonathan Cain from Journey. In fact, seems some of these tracks were planned for a future Journey release, with Bolton replacing Steve Perry.
All these unreleased songs and more, were compiled here with the title “AOR Provider“.
These demos have been circulating for years among fans from different sources. We have here the best sounding available, and while being demo tapes, the files here have been cleaned / remastered by the 0dayrox team to get the best sound quality possible…

NEAL SCHON’S JOURNEY THROUGH TIME (2019) Unreleased *made by 0dayrox*

Back in 2018-19, with Journey taking a sabbatical, the band’s guitarist NEAL SCHON recruited Journey co-founder Gregg Rolie, ex- Journey Deen Castronovo and other prominent musicians to form NEAL SCHON’s JOURNEY THROUGH TIME. The project was put together for a serie of shows to play Journey material focused on their first three prog-oriented albums, plus the ’80s hits.
None official release was done from these shows in any format, but the 0dayrox team got the tapes and we are featuring some kind of a ‘2-CD set’. These classic songs have been updated in arrangements, and believe me, the band is on fire.
It’s like a dream come true; Schon & Gregg Rolie performing Journey songs together again. Rolie handles keyboards and lead vocals of course, but also former Journey member Deen Castronovo who does a terrific job at the mic, apart of delivering a stupendous drumming.
Completing the line up there’s terrific bass player Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake alum), Thin Lizzy / Dead Daisies vet Marti Frederiksen (multi-instrumentalist, vocals) and…

DERRINGER – The Complete Blue Sky Albums 1976-1978 [HNE 5-CD Box Set remastered]

Rick Derringer first found fame aged just 17 in 1965, when his band The McCoys had a number one hit in America with ‘Hang On Sloopy’, famously knocking The Beatles’ ‘Yesterday’ off the top spot. Subsequently making significant appearances with Edgar Winter and Johnny Winter, as well as Steely Dan and Alice Cooper, and even squeezing in a solo hit with 1973’s ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll, Hoochie Koo’, before deciding to put together his own band in 1976.
Naming the band DERRINGER, the singer and guitarist was joined future Black Sabbath & Dio drummer Vinny Appice, bassist Kenny Aaronson, with the quartet completed by guitarist Danny Johnson.
Going for a rockier, harder, less poppy sound than Rick’s previous musical excursions, Derringer signed to Blue Sky Records, a subsidiary of Columbia Records, in 1976.
The band released 5 album for the label, with a couple produced by Jack Douglas (Aerosmith) and Mike Chapman to obtain a more commercial edge akin Mountain and Van Halen.
Remastered by Cherry Red / HNE into a 5xCD box, ”The Complete Blue Sky Albums 1976-1978” compiles all DERRINGER albums from that era, including the rare, promo only “Live In Cleveland” LP, for the first time officially released here…

EYES (Jeff Scott Soto, James Christian & more) – LA Rocks [Japan AOR Moon Collectors]

Few days ago we featured the 2-CD release of EYES featuring Jeff Scott Soto. Many of your have been asking for more JSS, so here’s from the awesome Japan AOR Moon Collectors series, the “LA Rocks” compilation.
Since the mid-80s, “LA Rocks” was a Californian collective (also known as ‘Eyes’) including several members from renowned hard rock bands, such as Marcel Jacob (Yngwie Malmsteen), Michael Dorian (Lillian Axe), Chuck Wright (Giuffria, House Of Lords, Quiet Riot), Jimmy O’Shea (Cacophony), Jeff Naideau (Life By Night) and many more. Even Mike Porcaro (Toto) collaborated with them.
There were several singers as well, including Jeff Scott Soto but also James Christian, Jim Wilkinson (later famous as Jizzy Pearl) and Malice’s Mark Weitz. Good sound demos from all are included here.
Later Soto took the name ‘Eyes’ for the band of the same name which managed to release official material included into the 2-CD we featured at 0dayrox. On this Japan AOR Moon Collectors disc there’s also a rare live recording from that line-up.
There are demos, but darn awesome.

A.Z.R.O. – Rock In A Hard Place [digitally remastered] (2022)

Alongside the D.F.M. recordings for the first time on CD featured here at 0dayrox, Metallic Blue Records is releasing as well the material recorded by the band A.Z.R.O. This was another band formed by D.F.M. / NEWHEVEN drummer Todd Lane who at the time had a contract with a Hollywood movie studio.
A.Z.R.O. was especially assembled for the recording of the 1993 film ‘The Bikini Carwash Company II’ soundtrack, where the band not only was featured in the movie but also performs all the songs. The line up also includes D.F.M.’s guitarist Tracy Swider.
Now, the complete A.Z.R.O. songs are compiled under the CD title “Rock In A Hard Place“, fully remastered and made available for the first time. These by no means are ‘generic’ hard rockers, but elaborated killer tunes professionally recorded & produced with a style similar to WARRANT, Mr. BIG, and NEWHEVEN.
This is hooky, rocking melodic hard rock with that early ’90s sound. Check out the video below…

ESSEXX: We Make It Rock ’85 + STRYDER: Nothing At All ’84 [digitally remastered] (2022)

Metallic Blue Records is releasing today for the first time on CD the recordings from ’80s Utah-based female fronted melodic hard rock act ESSEXX, whom previously operated under the name STRYDER.
As STRYDER, the band manged to release the private LP “Nothing At All” in 1984, now here augmented with several bonus tracks previously unreleased. Then the band changed its name to ESSEXX and the musical delivery was even more commercial and catchy. Their mini-album ”We Make It Rock” from 1985 (produced by Ronnie Montrose) is featured here alongside a couple of live tracks.
The colorful lead vocals of Laurie Welker and the sharp riffs / solos from Gilbert Rodriguez (who later was part of hard rockers Bad Boys) should have been enough for ESSEXX / STRYDER to get signed by a major label. Just check our the video below.
There’s a lot of hooks, catchy refrains and very good musicianship on offer here, mid-80s US stuff that finally sees the light. Finely produced, this remaster brings clarity to these dusted tapes.
