It’s that time of the year, and we are featuring a special editon of our classic 0dayrox Advanced Releases; “0dayrox Advanced Releases; Special Edition Xmas 2020“, including all the fresh Xmas 2020 singles released by Melodic Hard Rock bands.
Taken from the upcoming compilation album “Dance Of The Black Tattoo” out January 08th, 2021, MAGNUM has just released a new version of their “On Christmas Day” song, a great tune commemorating the famous “Christmas Truce” of World War 1. This re-recorded version is a superior Magnum song. It’s a different type of Christmas track, yes, but it’s a very Magnum one.
GATHERING OF KINGS just released a limited 7” white vinyl of “December (Christmas)”, a new version, much more melodic and season-sounding of the song which was included on their album Discovery.
Terrific project AT THE MOVIES also released a standalone single for the Holidays; “Last Christmas”, a melodic little ditty with a true X-mas spirit…

Tribute albums are all about the band being paid the tribute. Even if they themselves may never appear on the album, their compositions will be examined and executed from a different angle than what fans will have been familiar with.
“Tales From The Edge; A Tribute To The Music Of YES” is a very interesting one , as there’s not the usual covers done million times such as ‘Roundabout’ or ‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’.
Instead, it really takes a deep look into YES lesser know numbers like “To Be Over” or “White Car”, and performed by groups relatively new to the Prog scene, yet pretty amazing…
To complete the Cherry Red / HNE new release of The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal compilation featured here yesterday, here’s the first 3-CD release from the label from two years ago titled “WINDS OF TIME: The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal 1979-1985“.
Outside of the success stories and better-known contenders, panning for gold among the era’s less lauded exponents can yield cack-handed cacophonies alongside the nuggets,Hear No Evil have wisely enlisted NWOBHM authority John Tucker, a man with several books on the subgenre under his bullet belt, to compile ”Winds Of Time”. The selection here doesn’t ignore bigger names, but manages to avoid obvious choices, mining major and independent label albums and singles, and even demo tapes, for gems.
All these rarities have been remastered by Andy Pearce (Rock Candy Records) and the sound quality is fantastic.
As a sequel and companion piece to 2018’s NWOBHM: ‘Winds Of Time’ anthology, Cherry Red Records / HNE now unleash “NWOBHM THUNDER; The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal 1978-1986”. This 3-CD collection contains 44 remastered tracks from the golden age of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, from 1978 –1986. As well as better known acts that stood at the vanguard of this very British movement, including Girlschool, Samson, Praying Mantis and Iron Maiden’s ex-frontman Paul Di’Anno, this set mines even deeper for those precious classic metal nuggets, including many rarities and obscurities.

REVOLUTION SAINTS, the supergroup featuring Deen Castronovo, Doug Aldrich and Jack Blades — have released a new song titled “When the Heartache Has Gone.” The track, which features Castronovo on lead vocals is taken from the band’s forthcoming third full-length studio album, due in early 2020 via Frontiers Music. After many years, Perris Records is back with its eight edition of its popular Hollywood Hairspray compilations CD. Earlier volumes featured mostly underground bands from the LA hard rock scene, but the series were discontinued during the past decade. Now 2019 “HOLLYWOOD HAIRSPRAY Vol.8” has changed its focus, presenting melodic hard rock bands from all over the world as part of the current Perris roster.
This Vol.8 includes unreleased tracks as well, all of interest for fans and collectors.
